Girl Like You 12. Augustine's Dream One of country music's most versatile performers, Steve Wariner grew up in suburban Indianapolis, interested in the Beatles on the radio as well as Chet Atkins and George Jones, the artists his father listened to most frequently. He started playing music in his dad's band, and by his high school years, he was playing local clubs. At age 17, he caught the ear of Dottie West, who persuaded him to join her band, and in that position he ended up playing bass on her classic 1973 single "Country Sunshine." He moved on to work as a sideman for Bob Luman and signed a singles deal with RCA Records in 1976. His career developed slowly, and in the beginning, the low-tuned guitars and wide range of his singles brought frequent comparisons to the early Glen Campbell hits. His first really successful single was "Your Memory," which peaked in the country Top Ten in early 1981, followed by "By Now" and "All Roads Lead to You," which topped the country charts in December. RCA released another couple of singles before finally issuing his debut album, Steve Wariner, in the fall of 1982. He returned to the country Top Ten in 1983 with "Midnight Fire," which became the title track of his second album, and "Lonely Women Make Good Lovers." Wariner's career really took off when he left RCA for MCA in late 1984. His first single for the new label, "What I Didn't Do," made the country Top Five in early 1985, setting off a string of 18 consecutive Top Ten hits that included the chart-toppers "Some Fools Never Learn," "You Can Dream of Me," "Life's Highway," "Small Town Girl," "The Weekend," "Lynda," "Where Did I Go Wrong," and "I Got Dreams" (the last two Wariner compositions). This run took him into 1990, when he switched to Arista Records. He had considerable initial success on the new label, with his first Arista album, I Am Ready, going platinum (none of his previous albums had even gone gold) and his first three Arista singles making the Top Ten. And he shared a 1991 Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Collaboration with Ricky Skaggs and Vince Gill for "Restless," a track on Mark O'Connor's album The New Nashville Cats. Wariner scored a country Top Ten hit with "If I Didn't Love You" in the summer of 1993, but his record sales were declining. His 1996 instrumental album No More Mr. Nice Guy, his first release in three years, did not chart, but that year he joined the Grand Ole Opry. In 1997, he sang with Anita Cochran on "What If I Said," and the single topped the country charts in early 1998, just after Garth Brooks' recording of Wariner's composition "Longneck Bottle" had gone to number one. This twin success reinvigorated his career. He signed to Capitol Records, Brooks' label, and released "Holes in the Floor of Heaven," which made the country Top Five, winning the Country Music Association's awards for Song of the Year and Single of the Year. Burnin' the Roadhouse Down, his debut album for Capitol, reached the country Top Ten, went gold, and crossed over to the Top 50 of the pop charts. He followed it with 1999's Two Teardrops, which also went gold; the same year, he shared his second Grammy for Best Country Instrumental for the Asleep at the Wheel track "Bob's Breakdown." His third Capitol album, Faith in You, was released in May 2000. http://rapidgator.net/file/6bf0476cc027ef5db0f20d55f1464d05/-9428SWA16.rar.html http://ssh.tf/8ojzsNQCF/-9428SWA16.rar http://uploaded.net/file/cait844j/-9428SWA16.rar

Love Is All, That's All This album features the great legendary Donavan and Moby Grape guitarist Jerry Miller, and I'm really enjoying this blend. Great rock and country album, I highly recommend to anyone who likes this genre. - Greg Coleman Born and raised in Anderson, Indiana, I started playing the piano at age 8, the guitar at age 9, and drums at age 10. I sang my first original song at my 6th grade talent show, but lost to a one-legged ballet dancer! I took that defeat in stride and tenaciously kept chasing the muse. After growing my hair long in high school, I immersed myself in the 1950's beat poets like Kerouac and Ginsberg, as well as the 1960's archetypes like Dylan, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Byrds, the Doors, and the Kinks. I then headed off to college on a music scholarship and graduated with a degree in percussion performance. I started doing session work as a drummer in the Indianapolis area, all the while continuing to hone the craft of songwriting. I joined John Mellencamp's band in 1996 as a drummer and have enjoyed that position ever since. I am a father to three wonderful daughters, Emily, Taylor and Abigail. I have now put together a full blast rock combo to play the songs on the albums, which I wrote and produced. My hope for the future - "Dane Clark songs in every living room!" http://rapidgator.net/file/0b242305af605b951321b53f605fa0bc/dcna.rar.html http://ssh.tf/SeVV6InVL/dcna.rar http://uploaded.net/file/dfdg0vlz/dcna.rar
  5. Artist: Steve Guyger Title: Past Life Blues Year Of Release: 1999 Label: Severn Records Genre: Chicago Blues, Harmonica Blues Quality: 320 kbps Total Time: 49:04 Total Size: 124 MB Tracklist: 01. I Thought I Heard (3:40) 02. Lets Rock Tonight (3:19) 03. Blue Mambo (3:01) 04. Something's Smellin' Good (At My Baby's House) (3:55) 05. I Tried So Hard (3:10) 06. We're Gonna Ride (3:16) 07. The Comeback (2:25) Rooted firmly in the Little Walter and William Clarke school of overdriven, usually amplified harmonica, Steve Guyger blasts through 14 tracks of sturdy Chicago-styled blues. The former touring bandmember for Jimmy Rogers tears into these predominantly self-penned tunes with the fervor of the best postwar bluesmen, blowing with precision, intensity, and emotion. The tracks crackle with energy, whether they are in a slower tempo or more upbeat. Guyger exudes a smoky, everyman voice that won't win any awards, yet works well with this material. But it's his gutsy harp, tight band, and imaginative arrangements that drive this album. From the John Lee Hooker vibe of "Rib Shack Boogie" (one of three newly added tracks) to the slow, ominous swamp crawl of the instrumental "Snake Oil" and the noir jazz of "Monkey on a Limb," Guyger shifts moods and styles while maintaining a tough, moody attack. His playing on the playful "Somethin's Smellin' Good (At My Baby's House)" is heavily reminiscent of Kim Wilson's best work. Swinging drummer Joe Maher, leader of labelmate Big Joe & the Dynaflows, contributes skin work, but it's his production that shines here. Each instrument is crisply recorded, and the songs breathe no matter how fiercely Guyger blows. The album is essential listening for harmonica fans, and a real find for any serious lover of Chicago blues. ~Review by Hal Horowitz http://rapidgator.net/file/59ba6ca8e1751ae9afaa7cca55b4b625/SteveGuygerLife1999.rar.html http://ssh.tf/HHdRBHWKL/SteveGuygerLife1999.rar http://uploaded.net/file/jxch3k0x/SteveGuygerLife1999.rar

Dover Express (3:48) Philadelphia is home to one of the finest blues harp players in the world, much to the surprise of people not "inside" the blues scene. Over the past thiry-plus years, Steve Guyger with his band, The Excellos, has been dishing out some of the finest blues to be heard anywhere. Steve has toured with the late Jimmy Rogers, among others, and has played with many of the great Chicago bluesmen and contemporary players, yet he remains one of the best kept secrets in blues. The late William Clarke called Steve "the best harp player I've ever seen." Mark Hummel called him "a monster player." If you have heard Steve play, you know what they're talking about. If you've never heard him, you're missing a major page in your blues portfolio. Steve began playing harp back in the late 60's on a harmonica given to him by his future sister-in-law. Sometime later, his brother turned him on to Paul Butterfield. Steve's passion for the blues harp took him to Chicago to learn at the feet of the masters of the art. Each trip taught him skills that he brought back to the local bands in which he paid his dues. Steve has shared the stage with the greats in Chicago and the contemporary harp players touring the world today, names like Little Sammy Davis, Carey Bell, Rick Estrin, Rod Piazza, Kim Wilson, Mark Hummel, Charlie Musselwhite and many others. His playing, vocals, songwriting and stage presence have earned him a place among the best of the players on stage today. http://rapidgator.net/file/d9539c5d65c45de40b643e484ef69734/SteveGuygerLast1997.rar.html http://ssh.tf/sIOlPwbKL/SteveGuygerLast1997.rar http://uploaded.net/file/xdqa3wd2/SteveGuygerLast1997.rar
  7. Artist: Stanley Cowell Title: Prayer For Peace Year Of Release: 2010 Label: SteepleChase Genre: Jazz Quality: Mp3 / 320kbps Total Time: 58:46 min Total Size: 134 MB Tracklist --------- 01. When Lights Are Low 02. Blues For Rama 03. Time Can Only Tell 04. Japanese Tea House 05. Today, What A Beautiful Day 06. I'll Never Be The Same 07. For James Williams 08. Stealing Gold 09. Chirality 10. Prayer For Peace For a good part of his career, pianist Stanley Cowell has had greater exposure recording for labels in Europe and Japan than in his native United States. Prayer for Peace marks his first recording in over a decade, though it is immediately apparent that Cowell has not been playing in a vacuum but continuing to evolve. In addition to the seasoned rhythm section, consisting of bassist Mike Richmond and drummer Victor Lewis, the pianist features his daughter Sunny, who sings or plays viola on several tracks. Cowell has long been an underrated composer, and his "Japanese Tea House" conveys a memorable aural portrait of the Far East, with Sunny's viola adding an essential element to this driving post-bop tune. The solo piano composition "For James Williams" was written in memory of the beloved pianist/composer/educator; it's a soulful, intricate blues which captures his spirit perfectly. The leader's demanding "Chirality" is full of sudden shifts in direction, also giving Sunny a chance to show off her improvisational skills on her viola, and her expressive vocals are featured in the swinging opener, Benny Carter's "When Lights Are Low," along with the standard "I'll Never Be the Same," with her father playing Art Tatum-like riffs in spots behind her. Sunny contributed the pop-flavored "Time Can Only Tell," though her adept use of her voice belies her extensive vocal studies. Perhaps Stanley Cowell won't wait a decade before returning to the studio after this outstanding effort. ~ Ken Dryden Personnel: Bass - Mike Richmond; Drums - Victor Lewis; Piano - Stanley Cowell; Viola - Sunny Cowell http://rapidgator.net/file/12d522c554b225a96aee0bdc899f7ddc/StanleyCowellPeace.rar.html http://ssh.tf/TNmUJAXKL/StanleyCowellPeace.rar http://uploaded.net/file/rq71xkqq/StanleyCowellPeace.rar

Kommst du nun, Jesu, vom Himmel herunter auf Erden ('Come Thou, Jesu, from Heaven to Earth'), BWV 650 Alison Balsom must be counted among the most popular Classical trumpeters before the public today. Yet, she has gained wide international recognition only since the turn of the century. Her first recording, Music for Trumpet and Organ, was issued in 2002, and her first major award was given to her in 2006, when the jurors of the Classical BRIT Awards named her Young British Classical Performer. Other awards and citations followed and her concert appearances quickly became major events across England, Europe, Asia, and the U.S. Of course, her supermodel looks and charismatic manner haven't hurt her career, but in the end it has been her talent on the trumpet, forged by an all-encompassing technique and deft interpretive sense, that landed her at the top. Balsom's repertory is broad, taking in a mixture of original works and arrangements of music by J.S. Bach, Purcell, Haydn, Mozart, Hummel, Debussy, Rachmaninov, de Falla, Messiaen, and many others. She has recorded for EMI and Hyperion. Alison Balsom was born in the English county of Hertfordshire in 1978. She grew up in Royston, where she began study of the trumpet in her early childhood. At nine she began lessons with Adrian Jacobs at Greneway School in Royston, and four years later enrolled in the Junior department at the Guildhall School of Music, where her most important teacher was John Miller. From ages 15-18 she played in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, and from 1997-2001 she studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where her teachers included Stephen Keavy and Paul Benniston. Later studies were at the Paris Conservatory of Music and Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Balsom also studied privately with H??kan Hardenberger, from 2001-2004. During her student years Balsom played in several orchestral ensembles and became a concerto finalist in the 1998 BBC Young Musicians Competition. Following the release of her first album on EMI, she began drawing attention not only across England, but internationally, as well. Balsom next signed an exclusive contract with EMI, and her second recording, Bach Works for Trumpet, was issued in 2005 to rave reviews. In 2006 she was awarded Solo CD of the Year by Brass Band World Magazine for her album Caprice. In 2011, she commissioned and recorded Seraph from James MacMillan and has made her own arrangements and secured other commissions to expand the repertoire for trumpet. Balsom's concert schedule reflects her in-demand status with tours at major venues in Europe, the U.S., and elsewhere around the world. Yet, she also is open to new creative endeavours. Balsom assumed the lead role in the play Gabriel, produced at Shakespeare's Globe in the summer of 2013. http://rapidgator.net/file/024557fe806bf3141291df4c6c29daba/-9470ABJ16flac.rar.html http://ssh.tf/90HXvqFxL/-9470ABJ16flac.rar http://uploaded.net/file/3zlck8ng/-9470ABJ16flac.rar
  12. Artist: Soulive Title: Doin' Something Year Of Release: 2001 Label: Blue Note Records Genre: Funk / Soul / Jazz Quality: FLAC (tracks) / MP3 Total Time: 55:01 min Total Size: 365 MB / 128 MB Tracklist: 01. Hurry Up ... And Wait [04:04] 02. Doin' Something [06:44] 03. Evidence [04:31] 04. One In Seven [05:16] 05. Bridge To 'Bama [07:23] 06. Canonball [05:41] 07. Shaheed [05:37] 08. Romantic [04:52] 09. Solid [05:24] 10. Roll The Tape [05:23] Personnel: Eric Krasno - guitar; Neal Evans - Hammond B-3 organ; Wurlitzer - piano; Alan Evans - drums. Guest artists: Fred Wesley - trombone; Jeremy Pelt - trumpet; Jacques Schwarz-Bart - tenor sax; Sam Kininger - alto sax; Stephanie McKay - vocals. Doin' Something, Soulive's Blue Note debut and second album overall, sees the organ-based groove-jazz trio creatively stretching beyond their heralded debut, Turn It Out. Where that session was a lean, live cooker that cemented the trio's appeal to the acid-jazz and jam-band crowd, Doin' Something reaps the rewards of time spent in the studio--there are overdubs and, more importantly, an ambitious, varied overall vision. Rather than just rattling off a dozen jams based on a single line, the tunes here are actual songs with memorable melodies that draw upon hip-hop, soul, funk, and pop to go along with the rump-shaking jazz grooves. Furthering the funk foundation, the trio--guitarist Eric Krasno and brothers Neal and Alan Evans on organ and drums, respectively, also brought in James Brown-veteran trombonist Fred Wesley to lead a four-piece brass section (and contribute horn arrangements) on a few tracks. This is the sound of a hot young band putting its best foot forward, and the great thing is, you won't be able to keep your foot from bouncing along. -- Tad Hendrickson ~ Amazon.com http://rapidgator.net/file/f55ae7e79bae726a82a1f53dbcac4c9e/SODOSOM.rar.html http://ssh.tf/wzYk4hv7L/SODOSOM.rar http://uploaded.net/file/0qd7qc84/SODOSOM.rar

Ample (4:58) Inga infuses her signature jazz style with a good helping of folk and finds herself right at home. "First Rain" enters new territory with songs rooted in family, farm, nature and love. It's an upbeat mixture of smoky, bluesy jazz and beautiful down-home folk, with acoustic layers that bloom like a flower. Deeply personal, most of the songs were written, arranged and produced by Inga and feature silky vocal harmonies with her sister, Britta. The instrumentation is warm and intimate, with electric and acoustic guitar, stand up bass, cello, violin and Inga's signature scatting solos. "This album is a departure for me musically and it feels very personal," says Inga. "The lyrics are about the people, places and times that have been and still are most dear to my heart. The making of it felt like a community barn-raising. Friends contributed and donated to the project adding another layer of gratitude to the music." A regular guest on "A Prairie Home Companion," Inga has earned consistently high praise from audiences around the world for her effortlessly natural phrasing, infectious positive spirit and vocal gifts that allow her to juxtapose husky textures with silky lightness. "Inga has a gorgeous voice, very fresh and evocative and note perfect." - Garrison Keillor, A Prairie Home Companion http://rapidgator.net/file/3c09e459ecd7390a6af9f99aca762c22/IngaSwearingenFirst2009.rar.html http://ssh.tf/RKcJeftGL/IngaSwearingenFirst2009.rar http://uploaded.net/file/jhbipeof/IngaSwearingenFirst2009.rar
  15. Artist: Sonny Rollins Title: Reel Life Year Of Release: 1982 Label: Milestone/Concord/Original Jazz Classics Genre: Hard Bop, Jazz-Funk Quality: FLAC (tracks+.cue, log, scans) Total Time: 35:38 Total Size: 244 MB Tracklist: 01. Reel Life (6:15) 02. McGhee (4:20) 03. Rosita's Best Friend (6:22) 04. Sonny Side Up (6:48) 05. My Little Brown Book (3:56) 06. Best Wishes (5:44) 07. Solo Reprise (2:13) Personnel: Sonny Rollins - tenor saxophone Bobby Broom - electric guitar, claves, cabasa, cowbell Yoshiaki Masuo - acoustic guitar, electric guitar, claves, cabasa, cowbell Bob Cranshaw - electric bass Jack DeJohnette - drums, congas, maracas Lucille Rollins - claves, cabasa, cowbell The cover art of Reel Life, with a tiny image of Sonny Rollins sitting on top of a giant tape reel, is a telling factor in this 1982 studio session. Rollins was one of the first beboppers, and one of the last remaining to record with magnetic audio tape in an analog format. This sterling band with Rollins featured two electric and distinctly different guitarists in Bobby Broom and Yoshiaki Masuo, longtime electric bass guitarist Bob Cranshaw, and the keen and vibrant drummer Jack DeJohnette. As the career of Rollins moved into fourth gear, his love for hard bop, Caribbean music, and funkier styles continued to appeal to die-hard fans and the urban crowd. A matchless melodic tenor saxophone, Rollins just kept rolling along like the rotating metal wheel that documented these selections. Since his hit "St. Thomas," the tenor man always serves up an obligatory calypso, in this case the strolling "Rosita's Best Friend" with a brief lead, then one extended with Masuo's acoustic guitar. Hard bop and easy swing are also staples with Howard McGhee's hot "McGhee" and the classy take of "My Little Brown Book" respectively. When Rollins became interested in more contemporary music, it was never at the point of selling out, as the title track, in its basic child's melody in a funky soup with the two electric guitarists, is a pure delight. The Masuo original "Sonny Side Up" also brims with soulful beats, while "Best Wishes" swaps from swing to contemporary funk with ease, with Broom's deft solo emphasizing the marriage of the two styles. Both guitar players are so distinctly different, with Broom's Chicago based rhythm & blues roots and the resonant, steelier sound of Japanese national Masuo offering contrast aside the spike bass of Cranshaw and DeJohnette's purposeful, fluent drumming. In the middle is Sonny Rollins, at ease and comfortable in not so much driving the band as being the golden centerpiece in this stable display of modern jazz that in many ways set the standard for an upcoming new era. http://rapidgator.net/file/4888146ff9fbdfbfda0c2d8bd0f7c67c/1982._Sonny_Reel_L.rar.html http://ssh.tf/qOXc7Ud6L/1982._Sonny_Reel_L.rar http://uploaded.net/file/16ju5i4j/1982._Sonny_Reel_L.rar

Congo Square (10:39) Just as Muhammad Ali once boasted that he could "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee," Louisiana's Sonny Landreth can make his slide guitar roar like a rocket ship and dance like a ballerina. As this live set recorded on his home turf attests, few guitarists combine such power with such precision. Landreth's veteran rhythm section of bassist David Ranson and drummer Kenneth Blevins provides whipcrack support on a set of supercharged instrumentals ("Native Stepson," "Z. Rider," "Pedal to Metal") and original blues ("Broken-Hearted Road," "Wind in Denver"), building to a climax with the guitarist's signature tune, "Congo Square." Though Landreth established himself as an ace sideman from his apprenticeship with zydeco kingpin Clifton Chenier through his extended stint with John Hiatt, he really cuts loose with his own trio, generating a dynamic propulsion that threatens to levitate this Lafayette dancehall. --Don McLeese Recorded Live at Grant Street Dancehall, Lafayette, LA, April 23 & 24, 2004, Grant Street is a searing live set featuring songs from Sonny Landreth's first, out-of-print 1981 solo release all the way up to his last release, 2003's Best Contemporary Blues Grammy-nominated The Road We're On. This solo piano set mixes together some standards (most notably "It Might As Well Be Spring" and "The Surrey with the Fringe On Top") with some lesser-known but worthwhile tunes, including "Loneliness of Evening" and "I Have Dreamed." Hersch's harmonically advanced yet melodic style transforms even the most unlikely tunes into high-quality jazz. http://rapidgator.net/file/f1207b3a7651d41dcee677115aff0bb0/Fred_Hersch_-_Fred_Hersch.rar.html http://ssh.tf/KH851hhbL/Fred_Hersch_-_Fred_Hersch.rar http://uploaded.net/file/8bwgaoev/Fred_Hersch_-_Fred_Hersch.rar

  25. Artist: Amy Obenski & the Carbone Band Title: Restless Year Of Release: 2014 Label: Amy Obenski Genre: Roots Rock, Indie Pop, Americana Quality: Mp3/320 kbps Total Time: 56:28 Total Size: 139 Mb Tracklist: 1. I Wish You Were a Window 2. Fly 3. Some Kinda Change 4. Restless 5. Deep Blue Ocean 6. Maybe That Sitar 7. Rising from the Noise 8. Follow My Own Lead 9. In Paris 10. The Game 11. Searching for the Sun 12. Summer's Here 13. Maybe That Sitar (Reprise) In 2011 Amy went to Europe for the first time with a mind open to surprises. This is where she met The Carbone Band from Nantes, France. They had two concerts together that week. The music was a collision of Amy's free "California girl" sound and the French's deep passion and intensity. Their personalities and musicality immediately clicked. Two days after her return to California, Amy decided she was going back to France. She planned a four-month tour across the United States, the U.K. and France, where she reunited with The Carbone Band. They played several concerts and the music started to grow and became intensely passionate, grounded rock that sways as if floating on the breeze. In 2013, Amy returned again and spent three months with The Carbone Band. They recorded an album and parti[beeep]ted in an artist in residence at La Maison des Arts. Her fifth album, Restless, will release in summer of 2014. Restless features the distinctive sound of The Carbone Band and also students and associates of La Maison des Arts in the form of a whole string ensemble, harps, vibraphone, clarinet, and flute. The Carbone Band is comprised of Philippe Crochet on guitar, Josselin Sebille on bass and Mourad A??t Abdelmalek on the drums. With a stark and honest intensity, Amy Obenski's rich, crystalline voice cuts through the noise of every day life. She's a California native. Raised in San Diego and now based in San Francisco, the sound of the far west is unmistakably infused into her words and sound. She's toured the West Coast for ten years and even got her song "Carousel" into the Hollywood scene when it was placed on the TV Show, Grey's Anatomy. http://rapidgator.net/file/a71048ad7f713c094063071c1ab8a5c5/aoatcbr.rar.html http://ssh.tf/ZR2nK9ZNL/aoatcbr.rar http://uploaded.net/file/9qhqgatv/aoatcbr.rar
