Originally, a DVD/Blu-ray capturing Vai's performance at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on October 12, 2012 was issued by Sony but it was not available on the Blu-ray format. This deluxe package on two Blu-ray discs, with two CDs that contain the live music release from the performance. In reflecting on this period of his life, and his global travels circa "Stillness In Motion", Vai says: "Making records, performing and touring live is what I love to do most in this life. This Blu-ray performance and tour bonus footage was culled from the 'Story Of Light' tour in support of that CD release. The tour was comprehensive and perhaps my favorite tour as of yet. To be with that band and those fans traveling to all those exotic locations represents a period of my life where I feel I was peaking both on a performance level and pure tour exhilaration. The band comments, "Playing Stockholm is always a special occasion for us, and since we've been living here for so long it in a way feels like playing at home. Since it's a special thing for us, we always try to make it special for everyone else as well. Having the show at Sodra Teatern made finding these special things easier than if we had been at a different location since just being there provided us with a beautifully haunting backdrop and gave us half of the ideas. Having the show in two acts is something that we've had in mind for quite some time and being at an old theatre obviously made this the perfect opportunity. Along with the two acts we also had Orvar Safstrom as a compere or as a, more dramatic sounding, master of ceremonies framing the evening with two short speeches at the beginning of each act. We played "Down Below" from start til finish in the first act with a stage set up we've never used before, something that could hint at a future development. Time will tell. The second act was the more traditional act with the old stage design and an array of old songs. The best thing about it might be that this event might be the first of similar events in the future, but those would, if they happen, obviously be even more grandiose! Coming from a long break in touring (the band famously didn't tour with the two previous records), Monster represented an intentional shift in R.E.M.'s sound, a "return to rock" with guitar laden, simple arrangements. It was released to strong reviews and significant global success - reaching #1 on Billboard, and least 7 other countries. The album includes the singles; "What's The Frequency, Kenneth?," "Crush with Eyeliner," "Bang and Blame," and "Strange Currencies." In 1995 the band promoted that album with their first concert tour since 1989 (although several band members suffered health problems). Celebrating Monster's 25th anniversary, this HiRes single album edition offers the original album remastered. Highlights include the singles "What's The Frequency, Kenneth?," "Crush with Eyeliner," "Star 69," "Strange Currencies," "Tongue," and "Bang and Blame."
