  8. The Siege of Leningrad by Daniel Taylor English | December 31, 2024 | ISBN: 139903118X | 224 Pages | epub | 17,86 MB "...this book provides a great deal of photographic insight about the siege. ...there appears to be a wealth photographic history, much of which could serve as references needed by those modelers in dioramas and period staging for models themselves." - IPMS/USA The siege of Leningrad was the longest ever endured by a modern city, and the deadliest siege in recorded history. It lasted for nearly 900 days, from late August 1941 to late January 1944, bringing unparalleled hardship to the population. Out of over three million persons in the city more than one million lost their lives through cold, disease and starvation, bombs and artillery fire. The severe winter of 1941-42 was by far the worst period of the siege, when food reserves ran out, rations dropped to a little over three ounces of bread per person per day and regular supplies of water, fuel, and electricity stopped. Its epic suffering and endurance earned Leningrad the title of 'Hero City of the Soviet Union'. This book is from an article in issue 123 of After the Battle magazine, the joint authors were Karel Margry and Ron Hogg. eBook Details: Daniel Taylor 224 Pages 1 - 2 Hours to read 23k Total words Release Date: December 31, 2024 ISBN-13: 9781399031189 ISBN-10: 139903118X Language: English Format: epub ✅File Size: 17,86 MB Download Links RapidGator https://rg.to/file/f30d19ec8005fa5b5660d058191deaa0/af1tp.7z.html TakeFile https://takefile.link/ioxoad4xx4oz/af1tp.7z.html Fileaxa https://fileaxa.com/s2psckuoeisl/af1tp.7z Fikper https://fikper.com/CyX5HIi1Wp/af1tp.7z.html
  9. Christopher Wilkinson, "The Secret Tantras of The Fish Wheel and The Nine Spaces: Two Ancient Scriptures of the Great Perfection" English | 2016 | ISBN: 1533192057 | EPUB | pages: 220 | 11.9 mb The Great Perfection, also known as the Atiyoga or Dzogchen (rDzogs chen), is a tradition of esoteric Buddhism that was first transmitted from India to Tibet in the Eighth Century of the Common Era. The Tantras translated in this volume were among the earliest translations into Tibetan, and are preserved in the manuscript collections known as the Hundred Thousand Tantras of the Ancients (rNying ma rgyud 'bum) and the Hundred Thousand Tantras of Vairochana (Vairo'i rgyud 'bum). The Tantra of the Nine Spaces clearly states that it was translated by Vairochana, a Tibetan monk who had gone to India in the Eighth Century in search of the teachings on instantaneous enlightenment, and Sri Singha, indicating that the translation was done while Vairochana was still in India with his guru. The Fish Wheel Tantra does not indicate who its translators were, but its inclusion in the Hundred Thousand Tantras of Vairochana is evidence that the Tibetan tradition held it to be the work of Vairochana. I have included the Tibetan texts of these works for your convenience and to help preserve this ancient literature. Many of the Tantras of the Great Perfection clearly state that they are intended for everyone to read, while some of them are declared to be very secret. The two Tantras translated in this volume are secret, and are not intended to be widely broadcast. The Fish Wheel Tantra states: "These are the oral transmissions from the remote caverns, the quintessence of quintessences of the teachings. If they are scattered about, the dakini Sri Jamunta will truly tear out our hearts." The Tantra of the Nine Spaces states: "Do not teach this to any three people. It is bequeathed to a single sure regent." We may be sure that these Tantras contain content that is most secret. These Tantras are not, however, like some of the secret Tantras found in the Buddhist and Hindu traditions that describe hidden sexual practices or feature elaborately coded mantras. On reading them, in fact, we might wonder why they are considered secret, as they do not advocate any transgressive practices of any kind.It is worth remembering that in the world these books were written the only way to get a book was to copy it from someone who had it. A guru who was in possession of books would evaluate someone very carefully before allowing them the opportunity to copy them or to have them copied. If the content of a book was such that problems might arise if it were misunderstood, the chances for a student to get it and copy it would be dramatically reduced. Such is the case with the books in this volume. The contents are such that they might easily be misunderstood, resulting in problems for the ones who had copies of them, and the loss of the books themselves. The world of books has changed dramatically since the rise of the printing press and the rise of values that favor freedom of information. We no longer have to fear that a book will be lost to the world if we loan it to a careless person. My own teacher, Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche, published photo-offset editions of the Hundred Thousand Tantras of the Ancients, making them broadly available throughout the world. In translating and publishing these Tantras my intention is not to throw pearls before swine, but to make these works available to those students and teachers throughout the world who revere and take their contents seriously. 11. The SAS in 1943 by Gavin Mortimer English | December 31, 2024 | ISBN: 1399045245 | 224 Pages | epub | 46,65 MB The SAS is the most famous regiment in the world and the subject of countless books, documentaries and TV dramas, including the BBC mini-series Rogue Heroes. Much of the action of the second season of Rogue Heroes is located in Italy, where both 1SAS and 2SAS took part in many daring operations in 1943. The third volume of Gavin Mortimer's impeccably researched and handsomely illustrated SAS Operations covers their missions in Sicily and Italy. After the derring-do of Desert Warfare, when the SAS raided enemy airfields in heavily-armed jeeps, the operations in Sicily and Italy were more challenging and diverse in nature. Sometimes the SAS inserted by parachute and sabotaged trains or attacked vehicle convoys; at other times they stormed beaches from landing craft and neutralised enemy coastal batteries. Whatever the mission the SAS displayed their characteristic courage, initiative and determination in the vanguard of the Allied invasion of Sicily and Italy. In this book Mortimer describes in detail these operations, embellishing his gripping narrative with first-hand accounts from the scores of SAS veterans he interviewed. Drawing also on personal papers, diaries, private photographs and his many visits to the sites of the action, Mortimer blends the past with the present so that readers can follow in the footsteps of such SAS legends as Paddy Mayne and Roy Farran eBook Details: Gavin Mortimer 224 Pages 4 - 5 Hours to read 65k Total words Release Date: December 31, 2024 ISBN-13: 9781399045247 ISBN-10: 1399045245 Language: English Format: epub ✅File Size: 46,65 MB Download Links RapidGator https://rg.to/file/8968971a2686573c72ab7a1be322d1ed/3loe6.7z.html TakeFile https://takefile.link/u63whpbo2ryz/3loe6.7z.html Fileaxa https://fileaxa.com/qtqjom4fdsl3/3loe6.7z Fikper https://fikper.com/sLeyX5gxpI/3loe6.7z.html
  12. The Routledge Handbook of Byzantine Visual Culture in the Danube Regions, 1300-1600 by Maria Alessia Rossi and Alice Isabella Sullivan English | 2024 | ISBN: 0367639548 | 423 Pages | True PDF | 44 MB This volume aims to broaden and nuance knowledge about the history, art, culture, and heritage of Eastern Europe relative to Byzantium. From the thirteenth century to the decades after the fall of Constantinople in 1453, the regions of the Danube River stood at the intersection of different traditions, and the river itself has served as a marker of connection and division, as well as a site of cultural contact and negotiation. The Routledge Handbook of Byzantine Visual Culture in the Danube Regions, 1300-1600 brings to light the interconnectedness of this broad geographical area too often either studied in parts or neglected altogether, emphasizing its shared history and heritage of the regions of modern Greece, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Czechia. The aim is to challenge established perceptions of what constitutes ideological and historical facets of the past, as well as Byzantine and post-Byzantine cultural and artistic production in a region of the world that has yet to establish a firm footing on the map of art history. The 24 chapters offer a fresh and original approach to the history, literature, and art history of the Danube regions, thus being accessible to students thematically, chronologically, or by case study; each part can be read independently or explored as part of a whole. 14. The Price of Victory: Memoir of the Commander of the 1st Polish Armoured Division by General Stanislaw Maczek, Jennifer Grant English | 2024 | ISBN: 1036124231 | 248 Pages | True ePUB | 10.7 MB General Stanisław Maczek's memoir chronicles the bravery, sacrifice, and disillusionment of Polish soldiers in WWII. General Stanisław Maczek's stirring memoir captures the élan, the sacrifice and the disappointed hopes of the Polish soldiers who fought alongside the Allies during the Second World War. As Commander of the 10th Motorised Cavalry Brigade in the September 1939 campaign, his men played a crucial role in resisting the German advance before crossing into Hungary with orders to rebuild the Polish Army on French soil. Fighting a further rearguard action during the 1940 Allied retreat, he and his men escaped to Britain. In February 1942, Maczek assumed command of 1st Polish Armoured Division, created out of the Polish forces which had been training in Scotland since 1940. The Division first saw action in Normandy in early August 1944 and was responsible for closing the Falaise Gap at Mont Ormel and Chambois. Thereafter it fought on through Belgium and Holland, ultimately accepting the surrender of the German naval base at Wilhelmshaven. The Price of Victory is an inspiring tale of bravery and skill in the face of overwhelming odds, and of determination to fight for Poland on foreign soil. Having been welcomed as liberators in so many towns across Europe, it was the ultimate irony that the terms of the Yalta Agreement meant the Poles' aim of liberating their own was denied them. 15. The Price of Empire: American Entrepreneurs and the Origins of America's First Pacific Empire By Miles M. Evers, Eric Grynaviski 2024 | 214 Pages | ISBN: 1009396374 | PDF | 3 MB The United States was an upside-down British Empire. It had an agrarian economy, few large investors, and no territorial holdings outside of North America. However, decades before the Spanish-American War, the United States quietly began to establish an empire across thousands of miles of Pacific Ocean. While conventional wisdom suggests that large interests - the military and major business interests - drove American imperialism, The Price of Empire argues that early American imperialism was driven by small entrepreneurs. When commodity prices boomed, these small entrepreneurs took risks, racing ahead of the American state. Yet when profits were threatened, they clamoured for the US government to follow them into the Pacific. Through novel, intriguing stories of American small businessmen, this book shows how American entrepreneurs manipulated the United States into pursuing imperial projects in the Pacific. It explores their travels abroad and highlights the consequences of contemporary struggles for justice in the Pacific. 22. The Nazi and Japanese Human Experimentation Programmes by Tim Heath English | December 31, 2024 | ISBN: 1399082108 | 176 Pages | epub | 2,55 MB Explores Nazi and Japanese WWII human experimentation, revealing the horrifying abuses, motivations, and post-war consequences, including evasion of justice. Among the most appalling cruelties perpetrated throughout the course of the Second World War was undoubtedly that of human medical and military experimentation conducted upon both living and deceased human beings. The various Nazi human experimentation programs were initially carried out not so much in the pursuit of any particular scientific discipline, but largely as a result of the Third Reich's obsession with race and eugenics. However, this criminal sub-discipline of the Nazi fascination, with its warped racial ideologies, was excused as little other than collateral damage by many of the Nazi physicians and their assistants. Germany's Axis ally, the Japanese Empire, notorious for its cruelty and sadism ran its own independent programs of human experimentation such as Unit 731 where human beings were not only subject to the most appalling abuses but were injected with cocktails of poisons and/or diseases and in some instances were dissected while fully conscious without any anaesthesia being administered beforehand. It can be said that both Third Reich Germany and Imperial Japan had a more or less inexhaustible supply of human Guinea pigs throughout the Second World War for its ghastly enterprise in human medical experimentation. These unfortunate souls consisted largely of concentration camp inmates or in the case of the Japanese the indigenous peoples of the lands they conquered along with British, American, Indian and Australian Allied prisoners of war. Yet what was the true purpose of these so-called experiments and what requisites if any were, they to serve? And does any evidence suggest that mutual cooperation existed between Nazi Germany and the Japanese Empire towards the collation of data through the execution of these ghastly endeavours? Another facet examined within this work is why those Japanese physicians involved in human experimentation and medical torture were excused indictments for war crimes when the evidence against them was clearly so overwhelming? And is there any truth to suggest that the Allied powers benefited from the material obtained through questioning at the end of the Second World War? The complicity of both the German and Japanese pharmaceutical companies also has to be brought into question as many cooperated willingly with the military making handsome profits in the process. This work is written in an attempt at analysing all of these factors within the context of a single volume, utilising the testimonies of perpetrator and victim through many new first-hand and archival sources. This volume also serves as a horrifying and sobering reminder of the capability of man's inhumanity through two of the worst military regimes of twentieth-century history. eBook Details: Tim Heath 176 Pages 4 - 5 Hours to read 58k Total words Release Date: December 31, 2024 ISBN-13: 9781399082105 ISBN-10: 1399082108 Language: English Format: epub ✅File Size: 2,55 MB Download Links RapidGator https://rg.to/file/df2c5824cec5e09b8e72767609baf2f7/mc2a0.7z.html TakeFile https://takefile.link/ncpod3as9g3s/mc2a0.7z.html Fileaxa https://fileaxa.com/97790k4y2xbj/mc2a0.7z Fikper https://fikper.com/K7p8oxyMeZ/mc2a0.7z.html
  23. The Nature Of Economics: Smith, Coase, And The Substitution Structure Of Production English | 2025 | ISBN: 9811294437 | 290 Pages | PDF (True) | 9 MB This book conveys a simple idea: that the economic framework established by Smith and Coase is very useful in describing and explaining many facts in the real world.Smith's logic in the Wealth of Nations is simply the following: the extent of market transactions→division of stock→division of labor→economic growth. The logic of Coase in the Coase Theorem is that 'the delimitation of rights is an essential prelude to market transactions.' The logic of these two great economists can therefore be combined in a comprehensive way: delimitation of rights→the extent of market transactions→division of stock→division of labor→economic growth to the author calls this comprehensive version the Smith-Coase framework in economics. This framework will be repeatedly used in this book to explain various economic problems such as the law of demand, growth and development, monetary theory and policy, among others. According to Lucas, the approach of this book is classical because it 'makes no use of utility theory,' and because 'a household is truly a 'small factory'' à la Becker; household production function approach will be used to study the behavior of consumers. This makes the substitution structure of production the focus of this book. We view all economic agents as following the least cost principle, meaning that they would try to produce the goods and services they need by using factors of production in the least costly way. But there are at least four factors: labor, capital, land, and organization if we would like to accept the definition of Marshall. What economic agents will do is to substitute one factor for another in order to save the cost of production. The ease of substitution between various factors is therefore important for determining the shape of the substitution structure of production. Based on the principle of least cost, a simple mathematical model will be derived and used to explain various economic problems. 25. The Murder of Judith Roberts: The Mark of Peter Sutcliffe by Tanita Matthews and Chris Clark English | 2025 | ISBN: 1399080121 | 192 Pages | True ePUB | 6.32 MB The wrongful conviction of Andrew Evans for Judith's 1972 murder is reexamined, revealing Peter Sutcliffe as the true culprit. In the Summer of 1972, 14-year-old Judith Roberts took off for a bike ride within the vicinity of her Staffordshire home. Her body was discovered after a three-day manhunt, concealed from view in a thick privet having been brutally attacked. The community of Tamworth was rocked by the news of her death and an outcry for justice ensued. Within weeks of her murder, an impressionable and troubled soldier, based in the nearby barracks, 17-year-old Andrew Evans, walked into a police station and confessed to the killing. Relentlessly interviewed for hours on end without representation or an appropriate adult present, Andrew was swiftly charged with Judith's murder. Despite attempting to recount his statement and a legal defence at trial that defied the prosecution's arguments that Andrew Evans was guilty, a judge sentenced him to life behind bars. He was eventually acquitted in 1997 in what was, at the time, Britain's longest miscarriage of justice. While Andrew Evans fought for his freedom, another man drove up and down England undetected: Peter William Sutcliffe. Eventually proven capable of inflicting unimaginable horror at any given opportunity, an independent inquiry dubbed him likely responsible for more murders than the 13 he was convicted of and the seven others he attempted between 1975 and 1980. In The Murder of Judith Roberts, Chris Clark and Tanita Matthews examine evidence that concludes that Sutcliffe, whose violent criminal history dates back as far as 1969, was the real culprit responsible for Judith's murder. With never before-published dialogue from Andrew Evans' police interviews showing the grave miscarriage of justice, the case file of the five-decade cold case is examined under a new light.
