Included are "Horizon" (a ballad released only in the Japanese version at the time), two minutes of vocoder testing by Pharrell Williams for "Lose Yourself to Dance," and two unreleased tracks: "Prime (2012 Unfinished)," which didn't make it to original release, and the soulful "Infinity Repeating (2013 Demo)" featuring Julian Casablancas and The Voidz. (Casablancas would end up on RAM with "Instant Crush.") There's also the delightful "The Writing of Fragments of Time," an eight-minute behind-the-scenes track which puts us in the studio with Daft Punk and producer Todd Edwards as they discuss this "beach road" song, and create it all at once. Thirty-five minutes of bonus material ends with "Touch (2021 Epilogue)," the track composed with their idol Paul Williams, and chosen as the soundtrack for the band's farewell video in 2021. OXYMORE is an homage to the late French composer Pierre Henry, with whom Jarre had been intending on collaborating for Jarre's GRAMMY-nominated project album 'Electronica'. Henry was an iconic figure in electronic and classical music, and one of Jarre's mentors at the Groupe de Recherche Musical (GRM) where he studied. Since his death in 2017, Henry's widow provided Jarre with some stems of material which had been intended for use in this collaboration. OXYMORE is a musical journey where Pierre Henry's sounds interact with Jarre's new composition in a sonic game of mirrors, where the creator of Oxygene finds his inverted doppelganger in OXYMORE, opening a vortex that sucks the listener into an anachronistic back-and-forth where analogue and digital find a common playground. The project is inspired by the French movement 'musique concrete' (concrete music), a genre of music composition that utilises recorded sounds as raw material. The movement was first developed in the 1940s and went on to revolutionise the way music is produced. With 'OXYMORE', Jarre takes this concept and reinvents it with the tools of today. Jean-Michel Jarre has always been a futurist in his field. Throughout his illustrious career, the composer, performer, producer and cultural ambassador has continued to break new ground with his music and his mastery of creative innovation.
