15. Dry Cleaning - Stumpwork (2022) 96-24 Country: UK Genre: Indie Rock, Post Punk Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [96kHz/24 bit] Time: 45:11 Full Size: 1.01 GB Dry Cleaning's 2021 debut New Long Leg was a critical and commercial hit in the UK (and a cult smash in the US), topping the indie album chart and breaking the top 5 on the all-genre chart. Frontwoman Florence Shaw isn't so much a singer as a vocalist, speaking the lyrics in a dusky, rich and inquisitive voice that you can imagine narrating audio books (if only someone would hire her for a navigation app). She hadn't been in a band before Dry Cleaning, but had a habit of jotting down everyday musings on her phone-giving her an instant treasure trove of curious, sometimes elliptical lyrics. That hasn't changed on the South London band's second album. Excellent opener "Anna Calls from The Arctic"- taking cues from the high-drama of film composer John Barry and cruising on groovy bass-finds her recounting a conversation with a friend calling from the Arctic: "Nothing works/ Everything's expensive/ And opaque and privatized/ My shoe organizing thing arrived/ Thank god." But in Shaw's distinct, disarming delivery, the mundane feels surreal. "Things are shit, but they're gonna be OK," she declares on "Kwenchy Kups," which is about the joy of seeing otters and shows a smirking side of Shaw: "And I'm going to see the water caterpillar/ There's no such thing/ Hmm? Nice idea." The music, meanwhile, here and across many tracks, is like Wire served sunny side-up. But Wire never wrote a song like "Gary Ashby," an ode to a pet turtle who escaped during lockdown, with Shaw cooing his name. "Driver's Story" is chill-out music with spiky edges and the frontwoman's deep "oooooooohs" show a Kim Gordon influence. "Hot Penny Day" is s funked-up sonic freak-out, and "Stumpwork" jangles like late-era Pavement (complete with Steve Malkmus-worthy lyrics: "All the hairs on my arm raise up/ Because you are wearing a fleece/ That has become electrified"). Hard-charging "Don't Press Me" finds Shaw melodically complaining to herself about stressing herself out, shadowed by a whistle that almost sounds like feedback. And bottom-heavy "Conservative Hell," its elastic bass ricocheting, is like the world's catchiest Yelp review: "I wanted to thank you for organizing the Edinburgh trip/ Which, apart from what happened to my Kindle, was amazing!" © Shelly Ridenour/Qobuz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD3KhCTk4dU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjVc8lYIaUM Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/nfazrp9c3n4c/Dry.Cleaning.-.Stumpwork.2022.96-24.rar
16. Death Cab For Cutie - Asphalt Meadows (2022) 48-24 Country: USA Genre: Alternative,Indie Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [48kHz/24 bit] Time: 42:01 Full Size: 516.49 MB Ten albums and 15 years into their career, Death Cab for Cutie are as musically muscular as an arena-ready band. It's there on the title track of Asphalt Meadows, which sounds at times like New Order and sports a bit of Johnny Marr-esque guitar. "I'll Never Give Up On You" is almost menacing in its powerfully brooding instrumentation. "I Don't Know How I Survive" wraps in a surprisingly funky snaking guitar line, with frontman Ben Gibbard dragging out the word "listen" until it trails off like vapor; it all cracks open in a knockdown tsunami of sound at the chorus, and a blinding wash of guitar. You can hear-and feel-the muscularity on "Roman Candles," with rapid-fire drums and guitars that streak by like the firework it's named for. Gibbard has said it was written to reflect "a general sense of anxiety [as] the feeling that the fabric that weaves a functioning society together was crumbling during the pandemic." Indeed, that's a theme that pervades, as Death Cab becomes the latest act to file their "pandemic record" for posterity. Gibbard's plain-spoken poetry is particularly suited for the job. "It's been a battle just to wake and greet the day/ Then they all disappear like sugar in my coffee/ A hint of sweetness/ But the bitterness remains/ The acidity devouring my body," he sings on "Roman Candles." The edgy "I Miss Strangers'' probes at the lockdown conundrum of craving the public connection we all previously took for granted: "These days I miss strangers/ More than I/ More than I miss my friends." The Marr-like guitars return, like the sun forcing its way through the clouds, for jubilant-sounding "Here to Forever," as Gibbard sings, "These days it's so hard to relax/ You've got to hold a gun to my back/ To make me smile." As always, there are captivating short stories packed into songs. "Wheat Like Waves"-with warm keys like a buttery salve-tells of catching up with an old friend: combining fine detail ("Prefab Sprout echoing out/ Of your '90s Accord/ With mismatched doors"), intriguing similes ("Your tattoos like the stamps on your passport") and universal ideas, this time about how fast time evaporates with age: "So little time/ So many miles to drive/ Before the endless sleep eventually arrives." And "Foxglove Through The Clearcut" finds the band in an experimental mode, playing with spoken verses and loose, oceanic guitar for a story about a man who lived by the ocean but feared the water; it ends at full tide, musically cresting and crashing, an overwhelming and maybe dangerous thing of beauty. © Shelly Ridenour/Qobuz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOYHSB-AV8s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y5GGvkjxZk Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/27c062d9-35da-11ed-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e

18. The Smile (Radiohead) - A Light for Attracting Attention (2022) 44.1-24 Country: UK Genre: Alternative,Indie Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [44,1kHz/24 bit] Time: 53:18 Full Size: 629.88 MB When is a Radiohead record not a Radiohead record? That's a fair question when listening to the debut from The Smile-which includes most prominent Radiohead members Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood and is produced by Nigel Godrich, who has worked on every Radiohead album since OK Computer. They're even recycling bits and bobs of old songs that never made the permanent Radiohead roster, like "Skrting on the Surface" which has roots going back to that band's In Rainbows era as well as Yorke's Atoms for Peace side project. Here, it's served as an ambient moment-as much a mood as a song. Greenwood's jazz guitar arpeggios dress things up while soft brass fades in and out and Yorke vocalizes like flotsam drifting through the ether. In other words, the song plays it cool: a good simmer that doesn't need to overdo it as a full-on boil. "Open the Floodgates" started as a Radiohead track back in 2006, when it was known as "Porous," and also got revived for live gigs with Atoms for Peace. It sure sounds like a frustrated commentary on concert fans: "Don't bore us/ Get to the chorus/ And open the floodgates/ We want the good bits/ Without your bullshit." (Pretty perfect for a band named after the Ted Hughes poem "The Smile," with its ominous warning about hungry fakers consuming purity.) Joining the band is jazz drummer Tom Skinner, also of Sons of Kemet, who lays down a busy, jittery rhythm that matches the oddly charming funk-to-post-punk-siren path of "The Opposite." The drums pace like a caged tiger on the big, festival-ready "You Will Never Work in Television Again," and it's a wow moment to hear Yorke singing like he's in the Wipers or Mission of Burma. He hits his famed upper register on "Pana-vision," a moody, fog-at-the-seaside piano track with strings conducted by Hugh Brunt, who has worked with both Radiohead and Greenwood on his film scores. "Thin Thing" thrives on math-rock tension. "Speech Bubbles" is a graceful, if morose crawl. "The Same" delivers great washes of uneasy noise. "Waving a White Flag" brainwashes with sterile, spacey synth followed by drawling strings, like a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down. And "Free in the Knowledge," with its catchy vocal melody, could be Radiohead circa The Bends. © Shelly Ridenour/Qobuz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXbncoiKLn8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1_Cf55cS8I Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/40oeps97okx7/The.Smile.-.A.Light.for.Attracting.Attention.2022.44.1-24.rar
19. Kurt Vile - (watch my moves) (2022) 96-24 Country: USA Genre: Indie rock,Indie folk Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [96 kHz/24 bit] Time: 01:13:44 Full Size: 1.46 GB https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxNGZOS4SuI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMyGCw6li2c Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/xmdrzu0pbqxl/Kurt.Vile.-.watch.my.moves.2022.96-24.rar
20. Mitski - Laurel Hell (2022) 88.2-24 Country: Japan/USA Genre: Indie Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [88,2 kHz/24 bit] Time: 32:25 Full Size: 647.14 MB In 2018, singer-songwriter Mitski (Miyawaki) released the much-acclaimed Be the Cowboy. Just over a year later, she announced that she was taking a break-from touring, from social media; in other words, from the public eye. "I sense that if I don't step away soon, my self-worth/identity will start depending too much on staying in the game, in the constant churn. I don't want to make art like that," she tweeted. Now, you can hear exactly what she was wrestling with-and how-on her seventh studio album, Laurel Hell. The lyrically devastating "Working for the Knife" is an up-close self-examination of one's creative reality and dashed dreams: "I cry at the start of every movie I guess/ 'cause I wish I was making things too/ But I'm working for the knife." It would be too flip to call it the sound of a quarter-life crisis; it's more the realization that successful art is a commodity, complete with horns mocking your pain. At once strident and dreamy, it brings to mind Tori Amos. "Stay Soft" is the natural follow-up to how you deal with the vagaries of the world. "You stay soft, get beaten/ Only natural to harden up," Mitski sings against a chill dancefloor track. Like much of the record, it is delightfully '80s-inflected, vibrating with appealingly plasticky synth and crisp percussion. So are "The Only Heartbreaker," which sounds like the soundtrack for a movie nightclub scene from that era, and "Love Me More"-a slow burn that builds to a frenzy of Mitski chanting "clean me up, clean me up." "Should've Been Me" is Top 40 joyous in the vein of a Phil Collins song-all jangling melody, wild blares and finger-snap-style percussion. It could be read as an apology for checking out: "I haven't given you what you need/ You wanted me but couldn't reach me/ I'm sorry, it should've been me." Hymn-like "I Guess" is about the end of a relationship, but the song's so dreamy and malleable that it could be romantic or platonic love, about another person or a once-passionate goal. "That's Our Lamp" is more clear. As the narrator leaves home after a fight with her partner, she sees things, literally, from the outside and reaches the realization that you can love someone without liking them-a conclusion that triggers a swell of street and crowd sounds to momentarily drown out the pain. WIth the longest song clocking in at just 3:47, these are perfect little portals to remind you that singular ache and longing can be remarkably universal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4J3Z9xgjWQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmXFF_whkVk Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/qj83lpeykpn1/Mitski.-.Laurel.Hell.2022.88.2-24.rar

22. Wolf Alice - Blue Weekend (2021) 48-24 Country: UK Genre: Alternative Rock, Indie Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [48 kHz/24 bit] Time: 40:06 Full Size: 490.43 MB Perhaps the most exciting rock band in the UK right now, Wolf Alice prove they're ready for the summer festival season with their third album-the follow-up to the London four-piece's Mercury Prize-winning Visions of a Life. Right off, they let you know with "The Beach" and its slow build that swells and crashes like, well, storm waves on the beach. This isn't surf rock-more a show of the unpredictable and overwhelming elements-but it's as evocative as they come, positively waning at the end. A similar trick is used on "Delicious Things," a gentle shuffle that breaks wide open into a glorious expanse and heavenly chorus. Singer Ellie Rowsell sings the verses with a sneaky little melody (hints of early Lily Allen here) and slightly hushed delivery, like she's gleefully speaking into the phone with her hand covering her mouth-both to hide her smile and keep a secret. "I'm in the Hollywood Hills . if you're up popping pills you know I won't say no," she sings, her delightful British pronunciation of "Los Angeleees" making the place sound like Mecca. Elsewhere, she takes no shit: "Don't call me mad/ There's a difference, I'm angry/ And your choice to call me cute has offended me," she spits against a bottom-heavy groove. Call it a resistance to how, still, today, female musicians are being pigeonholed. "Play the Greatest Hits" finds her using a bratty playground chant to keep up with the rumbling bass, speeding guitar and drums-the whole irresistible thing sounding like the wheels could come off at any second. (If this song were a car, flames would be shooting out the tailpipe.) There are other enchanting surprises. The catchy, hypnotic "Safe from Heartbreak" is almost ABBA-like, while "No Hard Feelings" plays a gentle, campfire melody. "Feeling Myself" starts off comedown-slow, then turns majestic, and Rowsell draws out the verses of "How Can I Make It OK?" like honey dripping from one syllable to the next, before switching to a crisp staccato for the chorus. And power ballad "The Last Man on Earth" is a stunner. Rowsell has said the lyrics are about "the arrogance of humans," and her words cut like a hot knife: "And every book you take and you dust from the shelf / Has lines between lines between lines / That you read about yourself ... You were the first person here and the last man on earth / But does a light shine on you?" © Shelly Ridenour/Qobuz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV39h7GHDYs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xjD7KbxgGQ Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/3ae2t7mz25or/Wolf_Alice_-_Blue_Weekend_2021_48-24.rar Download from DaoFile https://daofile.com/wi1xf7jpqwls/Wolf_Alice_-_Blue_Weekend_2021_48-24.rar

Dinosaur Jr - Sweep It Into Space (2021) 96-24 Country: USA Genre: Alternative rock,Indie rock,Noise rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [96 kHz/24 bit] Time: 44:53 Full Size: 1.05 GB Now reunited longer than they were together during their original days as a trio, Dinosaur Jr. have, musically, aged better than just about any other indie-rock bands of the Lollapalooza era. As Stereogum astutely put it, J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph sound like "old friends reconnecting, not estranged old co-workers chasing a paycheck." It helps, too, that they were never exactly "cool" young guys or baby-faced pretty boys; if anything, they've grown into the weird old men they were always destined to be, and the music has stayed strong. On their first album in five years, you can hear how much fun they're having on songs like the bottom-heavy "I Met the Stones"-all '80s hair metal guitar and chugging drums that erupts into a squall, with Mascis' voice cutting through, rusty and serrated and as comforting as a weighted blanket, assuming that's your thing. (And if you're listening to a Dinosaur Jr. record, surely it is?) While Kurt Cobain sang "Oh well, whatever, nevermind," Mascis-one of Cobain's idols-has always had the voice that seems to embody the sentiment. But in reality, despite the laconic whine (one of the most identifiable voices of the past half-century), Mascis' heart-on-the-sleeve lyrics care a lot. "I can't take it/ Can't quite place it/ I won't make it alone," he sings on "I Ain't," a proto-Dino Jr. song with its bittersweet guitar bite. "Trying to get back, trying to get free/ I try more for you, are you there for me?" he pleads on "To Be Waiting," while angelic backing vocals keen against a scorching Jazzmaster solo. Barlow's own tracks here, especially the nice and Kinks-ish "Garden," have a more tightly contained gentility next to Mascis' sprawling id. Meanwhile, "Hide Another Round" ignites like a Fourth of July sparkler (and could've been a 120 Minutes favorite back in the day), "N Say" echoes Hüsker Dü, and "And Me" has the same DNA as the Dino Jr. classic "Whatever's Cool With Me." The extremely appealing "I Ran Away," meanwhile, bounces and bobs like Generation X's "Running With the Boss Sound," but with Kurt Vile playing 12-string lead at the top. (As much as it sounds like Gen X, Mascis has said he was trying to capture a little of Thin Lizzy's "dueling twin lead sound.") And after all these years, they're not afraid to get experimental. "Take It Back" is positively jaunty, with a piano-plunk melody that bounds into a funny little strut, bent blues riff and, for the final verse, a Steely Dan turn. Whatever's cool with them, indeed. © Shelly Ridenour/Qobuz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGXxFSWewmw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQi2l1oy1TA&list=OLAK5uy_nDzfipX5W3QCJvVFBDOEbBC-Jmzp_eFEU&index=9 Download from DaoFile https://daofile.com/dz1qudi2urlv/Dinosaur_Jr._-_Sweep_It_Into_Space_2021_96-24.rar
