Following a spectacularly non-rebellious and well-behaved youth in which jettisoning piano accordion studies in favour of completing a degree in Computer Science in University College Dublin was the highlight, Stella later took up the piano, taking singing and piano exams at the RIAM in Dublin and completing her Music Diploma. Studying is one thing, but music is best honed through performance. Many years of singing in musicals, bands and cabarets helped her finely-tune her craft; running parallel to this was a successful career in marketing and public relations. Combining study and on-the-job gigging has generated a versatile repertoire crossing over jazz, classical and musical theatre; having long since abandoned the corporate world for music, Stella is still most at home singing her beloved jazz standards, inspired by her big influences, Ella Fitzgerald and Barbra Streisand. In 2014, Stella released her first album "Too Darn Hot" - featuring songs from Cole Porter (the title track) and Jerome Kern as well as newly-arranged songs by Amy Winehouse and Robert Palmer - to critical acclaim; indeed, upon hearing Stella's album cover of her daughter's song Back to Black, Amy Winehouse's mother got in touch with Stella directly to say how much she loved the version, and indeed that Stella's album was being played non-stop in her house! The album gets regular radio airplay on the national airwaves in Ireland - it was Album of the Week on RTE Lyric FM, on its release - and is now starting to make waves on jazz stations in the UK, the USA, Germany and Switzerland. Indeed, the album has been selected by Aer Lingus, Ireland's national airline, for inclusion on its in-flight entertainment schedule since April 2016. In January 2015, she performed her jazz-inspired take on the music of Broadway's Stephen Sondheim, which sold out the John Field Room in Dublin's National Concert Hall; she returned there in September as part of her 2-month nationwide tour celebrating Sondheim's music; this tour was self-produced in partnership with the Irish Arts Council. No stranger to the art of the big band, Stella sings with the Hot House Big Band, has recorded with the Dublin City Jazz Orchestra, while she is also into the sixth year of her own quartet's Sunday residency in Dublin's chic and trendy Caf?? en Seine. Amongst the jazz festivals in which she has performed are Cork, Derry, Bray and Howth. In 2013, Stella added to her producing credits, returning to her early musical theatre roots to co-produce and perform in the Irish premi?¨re of the hit off-Broadway '60s show,"Shout! The Mod Musical", which sold out its 7-week run in Dublin's Tivoli Theatre. She also completed an Irish tour of her own one-woman show, "Smoke & Sound" - again self-produced - a tribute to the music and cabaret of inter-war Berlin, featuring the music of Kurt Weill, Berthold Brecht and Marlene Dietrich; Stella will be returning to the NCH in August 2016 with this show. SimplyLightWave - Camera Tracking and Smoke Effects With Jacobo Barriero .MP4, x264, 3500 kbps, 1920x1080 | English, AAC, 128 kbps, 2 Ch | ~ 2 hours | 2.82GB Instructor: Jacobo Barriero In this interesting project with Jacobo Barriero we create realistic smoke with sprite particles in Lightwave and use a clip mask to project an image onto simple geometry in 3D space. We also look at finding the camera information from images in Lightwave and SynthEyes. We start off in the first part with creating the image mask in Photoshop from a picture of an oil refinery. Here we cover some of the fundamentals of alpha based transparency, and you will learn some excellent production methods which can save you a lot of time on modeling and texturing in Lightwave. In the second part we set up a camera background image in Lightwave and create some very basic geometry onto which we project the image mask. In order to do this accurately and get a good result we retrieve the camera information from our original image in Lightwave and in SynthEyes camera tracker for a more precise result. You don't need SynthEyes to follow along with this project but it's used to demonstrate better accuracy when obtaining camera information from images where it's unknown. This method of image projection allows us to take a 2D image and use it on a 3D model which we can pan a camera around in 3D space. From here we move on to creating a realistic looking smoke plumes with Lightwave's particle system. We work with sprites covering the simulation process and shading for particles with turbulence and noise. Finally we finish this off by bringing the different elements together and creating a simple animation. For this we set up render passes and the rendered frames can then be composited together in a post application like After Effects. We do not cover the After Effects portion in this tutorial and finish off in Lightwave. This tutorial will give a very broad overview of some of the things Lightwave is capable of.
