The "Old Is New" album features ten tracks, seven are previously unreleased along with "Spanish Sea," "Alone" and "Struck By Lighting" which are featured on the band's most recent greatest hits collection "40 Trips Around The Sun". One of the new tracks on Old Is New is "Devil's Tower". "We originally recorded this track with Mike and Jeff Porcaro back in 1981 during the sessions for TOTO IV. We never recorded a lead vocal or had lyrics for this one, so Joseph finished it up for us recently." "From the perspective of the members of Toto," states guitarist Steve Lukather, "the Montreux Jazz Festival is amongst the most revered events staged in the world. Our association, as a band, and individuals, is something we are deeply proud of. So much fun, and so much history has graced the ground in and around the lake." The line-up, with some additional touring members, performed this concert at Montreux in July 1991 and would go on to make the Kingdom Of Desire album released in 1992, shortly after the tragic early death of drummer Jeff Porcaro. The Montreux show, now being released for the first time, combines then unreleased tracks from the Kingdom Of Desire album with classic hits and covers of songs by Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone.
