Artist: John Primer & Bob Corritore Title: Ain't Nothing You Can Do! Year Of Release: 2017 Label: Time Blues Genre: Modern Electric Chicago Blues Quality: FLAC (*image+.cue+.log,scans) Total Time: 52:06 Total Size: 441 MB In the year 2017, who better to carry forth the Chicago blues beacon other than John Primer and Bob Corritore? Both have pasts steeped in the blues tradition and each has consistently represented their fundamental roots of the Chicago blues idiom throughout their illustrious careers. Individually, Primer and Corritore command a towering presence, but in combination the power of their blues is unstoppable. Their 2013 Delta Groove debut Knockin Around These Blues is living testimony to this fact. Enthusiastically received by fans and critics alike, their album debuted at #1 on the April 2013 Living Blues Radio Chart and topped out at #5 on the esteemed magazine s Radio Chart s Top 50 Blues Albums for 2013. Additionally, the German-based bluesnews magazine declared it the Best Blues Release of 2013! In the album s wake and through the intervening years, the two have remained independently active on the blues circuit and continued to garner awards, nominations and international critical praise. Corritore has since released three additional album s on Delta Groove, including his all-instrumental platter, Taboo; the Blues Music Award-nominated collaboration with legendary pianist Henry Gray for Historical Album, Vol. 1: Blues Won t Let Me Take My Rest; and the old school modern masterpiece, House Party at Big Jon s, featuring rising young star Big Jon Atkinson, nominated for a 2017 Blues Music Award for Traditional Blues Album. Likewise, Primer busied himself with new recordings and high profile projects including the Grammy-nominated album, Muddy Waters 100, which featured the guitarist alongside such industry heavy-hitters as James Cotton, Shemekia Copeland, Gary Clark Jr., Derek Trucks, Johnny Winter and Keb Mo , and in 2016, John took home the honor for Traditional Blues Male Artist in the 37th Annual Blues Music Awards. Now John Primer and Bob Corritore are back with this brilliant follow-up to their 2013 critically-acclaimed Delta Groove debut. Ain t Nothing You Can Do! is another shining example of the power of pure Chicago blues. Backed by an all-star cast that includes Henry Gray, Barrelhouse Chuck, Big Jon Atkinson, Troy Sandow, Chris James, Patrick Rynn and Brian Fahey, Primer and Corritore lead their seasoned session partners through a hard-hitting program of stompin shuffles, rowdy dance floor packers and treacherous slow blues. There s an elegant brashness and unstated uniformity of purpose that can only be achieved through such a pairing of substantially pervasive Chicago backgrounds. This record is exactly what you would hope for from these two Chicago blues stalwarts! Tracklist: CD: John Primer & Bob Corritore - Ain't Nothing You Can Do! 01. Poor Man Blues [0:04:07.21] 02. My Feelings Won't Be Hurt (5:13) House Party at Big Jon's is a big portion of gut bucket, electric blues which will remind listeners why they fell in love with this music in the first place. In 1988 Atkinson was born into a digital, cyber world which held no interest for a person who is a throwback to another age. His obsession with the blues took hold while still a youngster and led him on a quest to play with the modern masters. However, it was the old timers lining up to play with him. Kim Wilson, who immediately took Jon under his wing and into his Blues All-Stars, put it this way, "Jon is one of the only guys doing it the right way. He knows the music. He knows the gist of it and understands the soul of the music." Soon Jon would join that elite fraternity known as Bob Corritore's Rhythm Room All-Stars. Thirty five years ago Corritore, a Chicago blues man, relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, and brought with him the blues from the windy city. He not only opened the Rhythm Room, an oasis of cool in the hot Sonoran desert, but a recording studio as well. It is where he has made a series of award winning albums which feature Bob's muscular blues harp in support of this generation's blues masters as well as the greats who are as old to him as as he is to Big Jon Atkinson. Last year Corritore went to Jon's studio in San Diego. Bob said of Big Jon, "Jon's approach to the blues extends right into his recording studio. He records on vintage equipment just like it was recorded back in the old days. What you end up with is an honest performance with that natural saturation and warmth that makes for a beautiful sounding record." He went on to say, "This is an example of the beauty and natural camaraderie that the blues inspires. I've been doing this a long time and here I am learning from a man who is half my age." As far as Bob's harp playing is concerned, Jon said, "Bob's playing on this record is the best of his career." Joining Jon and Bob is yet a third generation of musicians who make special guest appearances on House Party at Big Jon's. They are vocalists Dave Riley, Alabama Mike, Willie Buck and Tomcat Courtney. They, along with Big Jon, put their own vocal spin and inject their unique personalities into a wonderful sixteen song mix of originals and some interesting covers. As Corritore points out, "There is, in some cases, a fifty to sixty year age differential between many of the musicians on this record. This speaks directly to the beautiful spirit of the blues that transcends the generations." Everywhere you go there are people who LOVE the blues and are quick to mention how passionate they are for this brand of music. It is generally understood that they just don't make records like they used to and it is hard to find authentic sounding blues these days. Delta Groove Music has the answer. It is House Party at Big Jon's. It is what blues fans have been waiting for. It is an old school, modern masterpiece that will sit side by side with all of those "desert island discs" that are so universally cherished. House Party at Big Jon's is an indispensible addition to any blues library. This CD receives my highest recommendation and is an early contender for BLUES JUNCTION Productions' Album of the Year. ~David Mac http://rapidgator.net/file/a706f69f44397240da828e53394a2e3d/BigJonAtkinsonCorritoreHouseLL2016.rar.html http://rapidgator.net/file/b5518d8dedbb40a1130ddced5855ef4c/BigJonAtkinsonCorritoreHouse2016.rar.html http://ssh.tf/CDdHOBQe4/BigJonAtkinsonCorritoreHouseLL2016.rar http://ssh.tf/XtrtD3Be4/BigJonAtkinsonCorritoreHouse2016.rar https://bytewhale.com/qaq3xhkvjac5/BigJon_insonCorritoreHouse2016.rar https://bytewhale.com/h5auxu2tdkgy/BigJon_insonCorritoreHouseLL2016.rar
