Born in Havana in 1975, he first began playing the piano at age eight and after graduating from university with a Master's degree in composition, teamed up with Javier Zalba under the guise of Temperamento to record 1999 debut En el Comienzo. A solo record, Tiene Que Ver, followed in the same year, and after 2001's double whammy of Elengo and No Limit, he then concentrated on touring with Buena Vista Social Club and Rub??n Gonz??lez, and producing records for Asa Festoon and the late Ibrahim Ferrer. Stormy 12. Meu sil??ncio 13. Zum Zum A really tremendous album from Celso Fonseca - a set that really takes the singer to a whole new level, and may even find him a wider global audience as well! The album begins with the sublime title cut - an original by Celso, with beautiful English lyrics - and throughout the record, songs mix English and Portuguese in this really lovely way - scored to these jazzy backings that are augmented by just the right, light use of strings - which almost gives the whole thing the feel of some sophisticated late 60s jazz vocal album, although one that's still got plenty of Brazilian touches, too!
