FrozenPlain The Chordophones v2.0 KONTAKT | 249 MB The Chordophones is library of plucked and hammered strings. It focuses on capturing the atmosphere and sustain of steel strings when resonated. This library features 6 layers of sound and is capable of producing anything from dulcimer to lyre-like tones. The plucky sound is also excellent at making hybrid-organic rhythms and arpeggiations. The Chordophones is built using the combined sounds of the retired FrozenPlain products "Ancient Chordophone" and "Hammered Chordophone". The new and vastly more powerful engine breathes new life into the samples. The Chordophones is a library of steel string sounds that can be blended and morphed in interesting ways to make anything from something resembling a dulcimer to something guitar-like or even organic sustains and pads. The volume, pan and tuning of the 6 layers can be chosen using the mixer. First we have the hammered strings sound, this is a multi-sampled sound made from hitting steel strings with pencils. Its tone is bouncy and rich, similar to a dulcimer. The next 4 layers are multi-sampled plucked string sounds. They're made from recording steel strings in unusual setups, for example a very short length string. The last layer is a morphed sound made by stretching and editing a plucked string sample to last infinitely. Overall, the Chordophones has an emotive, old sound to it. Sometimes even sounding quite "medieval". Using the powerful interface you can adapt the sound to fit your needs. For example, you can use the Strum effect to turn chords into strums. Or the Atomise and Scatter effects to granulate the sound and create string sounding textures and pads. Technical Details This library requires the full version of Kontakt 5.1+ to work. It will only work in demo mode if you have the free Kontakt Player. The library explores the link between sound and colour offering a unique inspirational experience. Each patch features 12 different sounds, that are each assigned a colour. These can then be blended and mixed in real time to produce new colours. Rather than standard knobs and sliders, this concept allows for a more visual link between what you see and what you hear. Colourform is a Kontakt 5.1 sample library designed for making atmospheric and unusual sounds in a different way. Rather than standard sliders and knobs, Colourform uses colours to blend sounds. The core of the Colourform engine is the 3 unique colour wheels which are similar to oscillators in a synth. Using these controls creating new sounds is incredibly easy. The 112 sounds of Colourform are wide atmospheric recordings from abstract sources, such as pitchforks, glass bowls, creaky gates, spanners, rain and thunder, fire, water, miscellaneous metal, CRT screens, bowed glass and plucked strings. Colourform has recently been updated to version 2.0. It features drastic improvements to the voice handling meaning it is better on your CPU. It also includes a whole new panel that contains ADSR, filter and volume controls for each individual layer. On top of that, Colourform now uses the FrozenPlain Effects Engine which offers 13 effects such as arpeggiator, chorus, phaser, reverb, atmoise and scatter (granular synth FX) and more. FrozenPlain Slow KONTAKT | 547 Mb Slow is a library of ambient pads and soundscapes. It features a finely picked selection of sounds that can be blended and morphed with 2 layers. As well as this, Slow has a powerful interface allowing for plenty of customisation. Each sound layer has their own custom LFO's that can modulate multiple parameters allowing for sounds with movement and swell to be created. Each layer has 4 effect slots, these have the categories Sculpt, Blur and Modify, with each category having a selection of effects available such as; reverb, convolution, tone, filters and distortion. Slow is ideal for cinematic atmospheres or ambient music. Inspired by Tim Hecker, Boards of Canada, Stars Of The Lid, Oneohtrix Point Never, Mark Pritchard, and Benoit Pioulard, Slow has 62 sounds to choose from. These have been custom made for this library and originate from synthesised, granulated and organic sources. 17 of these sounds are textures, which are designed to blend with melodic sounds. Texture sounds behave slightly differently to regular sounds. They are monophonic rather than polyphonic and work on a 'first note pressed sustains' basis. In other words if you play a chord with a texture sound, the first note of the chord that is pressed is the pitch that will be played and will be unchanged until all notes are released. This ensures a consistent backdrop texture sound for when you are playing. Slow has over 40 main presets that are ready-to-use and display some of the aspects of the Slow engine. As well as these, there are also over 40 starter presets, which are simple patches that demonstrate each of the oscillator sounds. The main 40+ are split into 5 categories, AMB PAD (ambient pad), MDLTN (modulation), TXTR (texture) and XPRMT (experimental). These presets often make use of the powerful LFOs and have a selection of controls assigned to CC1 for extra dynamic modulation.
