Moynihan spins witty narratives, detailing peculiar but familiar characters and the everyday stories of their existence in the American folk tradition; however, Moynihan's wailing harmonica figures, Miner's soulful lead guitar, Martin's melodic bass, and Evans' driving, expressive drums provide a unique backdrop, layered with three-part harmony vocals, that puts Mayday Malone's unique twist on the traditional folk narrative. The band is quickly garnering strong buzz for their engaging, authentic, and entertaining live performances - no set list is ever the same twice, and song performances are open to many different interpretations. Mayday Malone's independently-produced EP, The Helmwood Sessions Volume 1, was released in 2012 and remains a brisk seller at their live appearances.
