What Would Have Been (JH's Song) [3:34] Long Island born guitarist Matt Marshak gave us already the albums Preservation (2001), This Time Around (2004) Groovosphere (2006) and On The Rocks (2008). Now he is back with his brand-new album Family Funktion (2009). Guest musicians on his new album are Shilts (Down To The Bone), David Mann, Stix Bones, Benjie Porecki, Kevin Flournoy, Carl Carter, Chris Marshak, Hans Z, Carl Burnett, Deadra Aziza and more. Matt comments his new album: "To me, it's just not all about me. It's about the whole unit and the people I work with." With The Family Funktion Matt Marshak jumps on the funky wagon again. Benjie Porecki sprinkles the funky sparks on organ and Rhodes delivering finest additions to Matt's guitar riffs. Kenny Harris lets his bass sound concise and significant. Great Soul was recorded in Matt's new studio called Drum Shak. Chris Marshak's dry snare and Tablas introduce into and accompany Matt's guitar lead. Mike Dimeo sets the fire with his shouts on fire, while the humming along the guitar melody reminds me of the legendary Jimi Hendrix. Seduction is one of the songs on this album which were recorded without editing. Matt comments:" I didn't do any editing on those songs, and we were able to stretch out and bring a funkiness to their eclectic groove." Matt performs this song with a delicate carefulness. On Gas Lamp Groove Matt excels with a superb guitar modulation perfectly underlined by Franklin Brown's bass and drum programming. Better known under his pseudonym Stix Bones (De La Soul) he released his albums Groove Like This (Smooth Jazz) and Bones Beats Volume 1 (Hip Hop). Mellow guitar tones caresses your ears on Gratitude, a song by keyboardist Rodney Williams. The song also features David Mann on sax. Yes, you can also find on this album vocals. Real Good Time presents charming singer Deadra Aziza. Really, Deadra deserves more merits. A good start was her contribution on Matt's album Groovosphere. The easy going We Gonna' Make It is a perfect good-morning-sunshine-song. Benjie Porecki supports with precise key strokes Matt's guitar riffs. Benjie is in recent times preparing the release of his new album. The title says it all, Funkology is a tutorial about Funk in particular and good music in general. Get To Know U is featuring singer and bass player Kenny Harris, who wrote the song as well. Kenny was also guest musician on Matt's album This Time Around. Long Island is Matt's homage to his native soil. Matt comments: "Just 1.5 hours outside of the capital of the world (NYC), there are beautiful fields, farms, a taste of the past, and a blossoming vineyard scene producing some amazing wines." You can follow Matt's impressions of his hometown on this tune. What Would Have Been (JH's Song) seems to be a sad reverberation to Matt's lost favorite radio station CD101.9, although it's conceived as reminiscence to the late Jimi Hendrix. Matt's soothing guitar sound is always a listening pleasure. Support Matt and his music. We want more of these blissful joys in the future. http://rapidgator.net/file/e4c4209ca5a373e9e3d386cc997cb814/FAFU.rar.html ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss http://ssh.tf/kUNeNhOgp/FAFU.rar ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss http://uploaded.net/file/5ncs0wbw/FAFU.rar ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss http://rapidgator.net/file/758ca90177c2e6f978580725d8e76976/FAFU320.rar.html ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss http://ssh.tf/WAy8EAe0p/FAFU320.rar ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss http://uploaded.net/file/kyb5u6cd/FAFU320.rar

Dancin' With My Daughter "Madison's Song" (5:07) I'm confident that "Urban Folktales" will be regarded as one of the top contemporary jazz CDs of 2011. This is the Matt Marshak you've been waiting for. Absolutely stunning." -- Brian Soergel, JazzTimes There's no denying Matt Marshak's mastery of the contemporary jazz format, as he lays down original, stylish guitar licks with shades of the blues, rock, pop, soul and-of course-jazz. On April 1, 2011, Marshak returns with his freshest and cohesive work to date with Urban Folktales (Nuance Music Group). It's his sixth major release and bound to be on Top 10 lists. "It's my first theme record, one that sticks to the same vibe from top to bottom," says Marshak. "I really wanted to capture the essence of the late-night city sound, an intangible vibe I've always been drawn to." Marshak is known for his lively, fun and energetic live shows, and it's on stage where he drew the inspiration for Urban Folktales. He'd recently noticed that fans enthusiastically responded to the tune "Seduction" from his 2009 CD Family Funktion (Nuance Music Group). "It has a combination of neo- soul, R&B, jazz and funk," he says. "People always ask about 'Seduction' after we play it. They told me they really like the open-ended, airy sound that's at its essence." With the positive feedback fresh in his mind, Marshak decided to craft an unforgettable CD of the style of music he knew his fans would love-as well as new listeners. The 13 original songs on Urban Folktales, from "Next to You," "A Silent Knowing," "Harlem River" and others, certainly capture the "Seduction" vibe, making for a stunning work and cohesive whole, a welcome change from today's single-song-download mentality. Of course, Marshak's guitar work-sometimes refined, sometimes gritty, always compelling and listenable-is what Marshak's sound has always been about. But on Urban Folktales, his guitar often yields to the overall sonic palette. In fact, on several excursions, Marshak dials down his chord changes, allowing the emphasis of dynamics and emotions to carry the listening experience instead of overwhelming it with musical information. Being one of the finest guitarists in the contemporary jazz genre means that Marshak also digs experimenting with his guitar sounds. "The straight hollow- body jazz guitar sound to me is everywhere today," he says, "so I really wanted to experiment and have the guitar leads to be a bit different and fresh." Specifically? Well, you've no doubt heard plenty of contemporary jazz songs that use the cool wah-wah guitar pedal sound as a rhythm accompaniment. Marshak decided to turn that on its head. "I had never heard anybody using it on the lead in contemporary jazz," he says. On the tracks "Teddy P" and "Glen Burnie," he does just that. "The funkiness and expressive sound it allowed me was refreshing. Not only do you have hands at work, but the foot pedal adds another level of expression to the lead sound." It a sound that sound more "vocal." http://rapidgator.net/file/f687fa16bd18ff97c587c956b0e0dc5c/URFO.rar.html http://ssh.tf/YhDyMbUfJ/URFO.rar http://uploaded.net/file/bpki0oyq/URFO.rar http://rapidgator.net/file/25954a06b9277701af32494e4f3b0f0c/URFO320.rar.html http://ssh.tf/9e8YCHffJ/URFO320.rar http://uploaded.net/file/qhgaveeo/URFO320.rar
