Why With their second album NOIS 4 ('Us Four') recount their own poetic tales of Brazil and pay homage to the country's most enduring heritage, the people themselves ('Gente'): Brazilian Music as a popular, collective experience. They've even recorded it in Sao Paulo, to make it as close to the real thing as possible. Brazil comes across in all its warmth, delivered with the lightness of touch that is typical of Nois 4. Carnivalesque grooves alternate with melancholic songs; original tunes with absolute classics (Antonio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes; Chico Buarque). One can dive into "Com a Perna no Mundo", and imagine what it is to be part of a Beija Flor parade (one of Rio's most prominent schools of samba). With "Ch?? De Panela", Nois 4 pay homage to Brazilian jazz legend Hermeto Pascoal (listen out for the trademark accordion and triangle; the circular pulse; and a lyrical nod to the very core of the Pascoal philosophy: 'All things are musical'). Their collective journey takes on a more personal hue with "Canto pra Cira". Monica Vasconcelos' voice blossoms with a sweet melancholy in this poignant tribute to her mother. But it is the presence of guitarist Guinga, a legendary figure of the MPB scene (Brazilian Popular Music) that adds a hefty weight to the ensemble. His love and knowledge of both classic and popular Brazilian musical traditions is a precious gift to NOIS 4's sound. On the other hand, saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock's wonderfully subtle soprano tone is worth a mention, as well as her sensitive alto modulations that sweetly interweave with Monica's vocals. This is an enjoyablealbum that brims with a love and understanding of Brazilian music. ~Lara Bellini http://rapidgator.net/file/c59dc58168567dd1e4ec224af1d8b909/Nois4Gente.rar.html http://ssh.tf/9YZ2rUZ7g/Nois4Gente.rar http://uploaded.net/file/t6lv5d2w/Nois4Gente.rar

Artist: Monica Vasconcelos Title: Oferenda Year Of Release: 2002 Label: Candid Records Genre: Jazz / Bossa Nova Quality: Mp3 / 320kbps Total Time: 66:16 min Total Size: 150 MB Tracklist ----------- 01. Dance, Will You Monica Vasconcelos & Nois - Oferenda This is an exhilarating, joyous album confirming Monica's status as one of Brazil's top artists. It is the stunning mix of shifting currents and moods, marrying the lyricism and passion of Brazil with funky modern jazz and contemporary rhythms that makes this CD such a standout listing experience. "Brazilian Portuguese is such a melodious language that the mere sound of it is beguiling" - The Observer BBC Review Lovers of Latin rhythms, fasten your seatbelts: Monica Vasconcelos is about to lead you on a journey taking in traditional samba and bossa nova, through smoky, late night Latin ballads to funky, contemporary jazz. Monica is assisted in this by an eclectic ensemble of international musicians who have worked and grown with her since she first came to London from Sao Paulo. They call themselves Nois (a Brazilian colloquialism meaning 'Us') and include percussionist Chris Wells and piano star Steve Lodder, a member of John Etheridge's Frank Zappa covers project and a longtime collaborator with Andy Sheppard. But enough of the credentials, the music speaks for itself. And 'speak' is the operative word; Monica's sweet, sensual and sometimes husky vocal talks everyone's language, even if you don't understand a word of Brazilian Portuguese. Indeed when she sings in English (notably on her cheeky cover of Bobby McFerrin's "Thinking About your Body" complete with Hammond organ and funky percussion) the melodious vowel sounds of her Brazilian accent somehow bring the meaning of the English words into sharper relief. The instruments speak to you too; the cello-vocal duet on "You" could warm the coldest of hearts. This is Nois's third album, and its diversity and polished delivery are testament to a group of musicians who have worked closely together for years. Most of the tracks are written by Monica and one or more of her band members, with a handful of well chosen covers including an irresistibly groovy version of Edu Lobos' "Arrastao" (listen carefully for the plainsong-like male backing vocals!) and Roberto Carlos' sultry "Detalhes". This is a charming album, which transports you from Sao Paolo bar to beach and back again. Close your eyes and turn up the central heating... --Suzanne Hutson http://rapidgator.net/file/8d3ccd11f02092ad8fe3e7584ba301dc/MonicaVasconcelosOferenda.rar.html http://ssh.tf/ICklw5kKg/MonicaVasconcelosOferenda.rar http://uploaded.net/file/uet1r4lk/MonicaVasconcelosOferenda.rar
