Original songs on the album include the opening track Big Wheel where a wistful National guitar gets you heading down the highway. Miss You So is a tense and terse blues, That's Against the Law makes a little nod in the direction of Johnny Cash and Bobby Zimmerman, Willie Dixon is dedicated to the great Chicago bluesman -- and Hero of the Blues -- and is reminiscent of Lowell George and Little Feat, Quitting' Time is a working man's blues, and the heartfelt Prodigal |Song deals with clearing out the house of a parent who has recently passed away. Covers include songs from The Band, Eric Bibb, Canon's Jug Stompers, and the American country spiritual Wayfaring Stranger. "A master songsmith . . . file it under Tortoriana!" 2. Artist: Guy Tortora Title: Living On Credit Year Of Release: 2008 Label: Turtledove Records Genre: Blues, Country Blues Quality: Mp3 320 / Flac (tracks, log, .cue) Total Time: 59:46 Total Size: 144/415 Mb Tracklist: 1. Living On Credit 2. Nobody's Fault But Mine 3. Like It That Way 4. Cotton Was King 5. God Don't Change 6. Super Blue 7. Mama's Tired 8. White Boy Blues (Song For J.R.) 9. People Get Ready 10. Share Croppers 11. Falling 12. Don't Do It (Bonus Track) Born & raised in Pasadena, California, Guy Tortora is now settled in London, in the UK. What he does as a songwriter and performer is what people like to call Americana these days - a hard term to define as it seems to mean different things depending on who you're talking to. But if to you it means original songs, well constructed and well performed, in some of the various musical idioms that originated in the USA - blues, jazz, folk and roots - and also interpreting the work of other writers in these genres with depth and feeling, then you should check out his work if you haven't already. Over the last few years he has laid claim to a unique niche on the Blues 'n' Roots scene in the UK and European Continent, from small clubs and theatres to festivals. His two recent solo albums received a warm welcome in the Blues 'n' Roots reviews, a third album was released in 2008 to great acclaim from reviewers and audiences alike. When travelling light, he performs in stripped down acoustic mode either on his own, or accompanied by bass or keyboards. At many UK gigs he appears with the Guy Tortora Band, his own four-piece outfit of accomplished musicians from the UK and Europe. With this band he has performed live with artists as diverse as Eric Clapton, Pee Wee Ellis, John Cleary and Eric Bibb. Guy is a guitar player of some accomplishment. On both acoustic and electric guitars he plays finger style, and is a fine bottleneck and slide player. His playing is not the flashy guitar-slinger style beloved of bluesrockers everywhere, but understated, and leaves room for the songs to make an impact, whether his own or the "covers" he performs that include many old standards and traditional tunes as well as songs by more recent American writers such as Eric Bibb or Kreig Viesselman. http://rapidgator.net/file/5fca5bae145d585ff2abd328207f54c8/gtandloc.rar.html http://ssh.tf/GSepgORLP/gtandloc.rar http://uploaded.net/file/b56df7m3/gtandloc.rar http://rapidgator.net/file/95bac179b179c108c87ac420921f94f1/gt100loc.rar.html http://ssh.tf/ZAd2W0WhP/gt100loc.rar http://uploaded.net/file/w38uexr4/gt100loc.rar
  3. Artist: Guy Tortora Title: Footnote To The Blues Year Of Release: 2002 Label: Turtledove Records Genre: Blues, Acoustic/Electric Blues Quality: Mp3 320 / Flac (tracks, log, .cue) Total Time: 54:25 Total Size: 132/367 Mb Tracklist: 1. Long Slow Blues 2. Hallowed Ground 3. I Need A Car 4. Late Starter 5. I Heard It Through The Grapevine 6. Did Somebody Make A Fool Of You 7. Love Nor Money 8. Tough Love 9. Crossroads Blues 10. Sanctified Love 11. Going Down Slow (Pt Ii) "Footnote To The Blues" is a collection of some outstanding original songs and a few choice covers in a very contemporary blues setting provided both by members of his regular band: Brendan Canty -- Bass; Neil Littman -- Drums; Mark Breen -- Hammond Organ, & several other exceptional players. Guy is a top rate guitarist, playing electric, acoustic, as well as, a mean slide; and has been compared to Albert Collins and Ry Cooder. This CD is making waves and has been well received by the blues press for the quality, and for the unique take on the Barrett Strong classic "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" (this, alone, is worth the price of admission). The artwork is cool and tasty too. http://rapidgator.net/file/afbaa13c23dd2fcab34035b36425c3af/gtandfttb.rar.html http://ssh.tf/oFHV1BKLP/gtandfttb.rar http://uploaded.net/file/vcrugfd9/gtandfttb.rar http://rapidgator.net/file/b1bfb2b841c00f77e07e5a7ea5037d03/gt100fttb.rar.html http://ssh.tf/10Tom7FhP/gt100fttb.rar http://uploaded.net/file/wvs4gocn/gt100fttb.rar
