Jazz/pop vocalist and songwriter Rebecca Binnendyk makes a dazzling recording debut with her new albumSome Fun Out Of Life (ALMA/Universal). It features fresh reworkings of standards and hits from songwriters ranging from Cole Porter and Hoagy Carmichael to Joni Mitchell, Phil Collins, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Bon Jovi, plus two new and emotionally eloquent original compositions. The classically-trained vocalist possesses a fluid and pure singing style and receives ace accompaniment here from an A-list band of Toronto players (including horns and strings), all produced with clarity by John 'Beetle' Bailey. As the title suggests, the mood here is predominantly light and upbeat, making for a fun listening experience.
