A new collection of songs by Carolyn Walsh that are rich, poetic, raw, pastoral, stark and/or lovely compositions revealing stories and relatable life lessons.

With a driving piano sound and powerful voice, Carolyn rocks through one song and lilts through the next. She is complemented by acoustic guitars, pedal steel and lap steel guitars, accordions and strings, as well as bass guitars and drums. Jazz great Rodney Jones creates an otherworldly soundscape on the title track "Rise." Mike "slo-mo" Brenner smoothly bends the pedal steel guitar into submission on Full of Thorns even as his lap steel is on the attack. Carolyn's organ/piano combination on Push it Down is haunting.

Songs of falling in and out of love, a truncated youth, a testament to the healing Colorado wilderness can bring - just some of the emotions expressed via country-rock arrangements or solo piano. And every song features that amazing voice!
