Pamela (Alina Serban) jest młodą Romka, wyróżniającą się jednak ze społeczności - cechują ją bowiem spontaniczność i wyjątkowe poczucie humoru. Samotnie wychowuje dwuletnią córeczkę i mieszka z babcią w niewielkim domku, w którym we trzy śpią w jednym łóżku. Dziewczyna marzy o wolności, jednak jej sytuacja życiowa wymaga od niej przytomnego podejścia do rzeczywistości. Pewnego dnia - wbrew rozsądkowi - Pamela postanawia zerwać z opresyjną tradycją. Zdeterminowana, by zacząć nowe życie, przybywa do Belgii. Po francusku zna tylko trzy słowa: "królik", "miłość" i pizza". Jest zafascynowana tamtejszą kulturą. Pragnie wyjść za mąż za któregoś z miejscowych mężczyzn - wierzy, że odmieniłoby to jej los.
