Kalugin (Andriej Smoliakow) jest wpływowym oligarchą. Mężczyzna decyduje się nabyć upadającą fabrykę w małej rosyjskiej miejscowości. Tuż po przejęciu postanawia ją zamknąć, nie wypłacając nawet grosza pensji ciężko pracującym robotnikom. Decyzja Kalugina spotyka się ze zdecydowanym sprzeciwem rozwścieczonych pracowników fabryki. Jeden z nich, Greyhair (Denis Szwiedow), apeluje do grupy współpracowników nawołując i namawiając ich do porwania niesprawiedliwego właściciela fabryki. Okup za porwanego traktują jako ich zaległą wypłatę. To opowieść o ludzkich losach w skorumpowanym i brutalnym świecie współczesnej Rosji.
