  1. Free Download Matthew James Hamm, "Environmental Narratives in the Huainanzi and the Anthropocene" English | ISBN: 1666914355 | 2024 | 236 pages | PDF | 2 MB Environmental Narratives in the Huainanzi and the Anthropocene analyzes the contemporary discourse of the Anthropocene using the Huainanzi 淮南子, an eastern Eurasian text from the second century BCE. Written to preserve and strengthen the Han Empire (202 BCE-220 CE), the Huainanzi describes a mode of rulership premised on periodizing the present as the end of history that domesticates humans and non-humans. Matthew James Hamm provides a contextualized reading of the Huainanzi's argument and uses it as a theoretical lens to read Anthropocene scholarship in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Hamm argues that-irrespective of the name or historical narrative used to describe it-the idea of the Anthropocene as a new epoch not only lacks empirical evidence, but also empowers the existing periodization of modernity to provide ideological support for environmentally destructive neoliberal structures rooted in Western European imperial orders. By doing so, the Anthropocene framework actively inhibits the transformative social change needed to address global environmental crises such as climate change and mass extinction. Consequently, this book rejects periodization as a conceptual framework for addressing those issues and advocates for greater scholarly engagement with environmental theories outside the European and Anglo-American traditions, such as the Huainanzi. 2. Free Download Entrepreneurship and Creativity in the Metaverse by Shivani Inder, Byoung-Chul Min, Sandhir Sharma English | March 5, 2024 | ISBN: 8369346111 | 332 pages | PDF | 5.86 Mb The Metaverse, an expanding digital space, is at the forefront of a technological revolution that will redefine how we interact with the digital world. Yet, as this fascinating landscape evolves, it presents an array of complex challenges, particularly in the realm of entrepreneurship. The current literature on Metaverse entrepreneurship is notably lacking, leaving a void in our understanding of the Metaverse's potential and the role of entrepreneurs within it. Critical questions about the emergence of entrepreneurial ecosystems, the evolution of entrepreneurship frontiers, and the impact of innovation and creativity within the Metaverse remain largely unanswered. Entrepreneurship and Creativity in the Metaverse serves as a guide to comprehending and harnessing the Metaverse's vast potential. As a space with fewer limitations than the physical world, creativity and entrepreneurship have immense potential to flourish within the Metaverse. It provides a much-needed roadmap for scholars, entrepreneurs, educators, industry experts, and policymakers to navigate this uncharted territory and thrive within it. 3. Free Download Entity Framework Core by Kenji Elzerman English | August 22, 2024 | ISBN: 8227497691 | 136 pages | EPUB | 4.76 Mb Running software isn't all about code, some buttons, and some user interaction. There is much more to it. One of the key elements is data. Data is always data; information a user can see and manage. But also something you, the developer, can work with. But the way we can save that data is a whole different story. Where do you save information? How do you retrieve it again? How do you make sure the data is saved? How can my mobile app reach data all over the world? For this, we use (SQL) databases. While Entity Framework is really popular these days I believe it is important to know and understand the basics of the underlying system of Entity Framework Core. That is why we explore SQL before heading to the main guest: Entity Framework Core. This book is for those who want to learn how to use Entity Framework from zero or those who want to learn a little bit extra about this subject. Don't expect 100% coverage on the whole Entity Framework Core subject, because that's impossible. I will give you enough information to work with in a way you can implement Entity Framework in your own application(s). Maybe I do things a little bit differently. Most books I have read are so focused on theory and working with the perfect scenario. In my opinion, this isn't right. There isn't a perfect scenario in a perfect environment. That is why I place my focus more on the practical side of things. I want to show you how it is done, rather than just tell you. This way I will tell you less unused theory, but more practical examples. To help you with the practical side, I have included examples and a project which you can download from my GitHub. With this project, you can type along as we are building more aspects of Entity Framework Core in a console application and API. This could mean that some subjects are not 100% clear or are marked as nice to have. Don't be afraid to do some investigation on your own. Use Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, or whatever to help you. In the end, a developer's time is 75% searching on the internet. Do know that you need to know the basics of C#! Know what variables are, how to create classes and methods, how dependency injection works, how to make decisions, how unit testing works, etc. Rapidgator https://rg.to/file/a943c3cea3aaee2b6549c1242ec7dc5f/rheg4.rar.html TakeFile https://takefile.link/pfzv1hpu0u5q/rheg4.rar.html Links are Interchangeable - Single Extraction

  12. Free Download English Nouns since 1150: A Typological Study (Topics in English Linguistics [TiEL], 115) by Marion Neubauer English | April 22, 2024 | ISBN: 3111317471 | 269 pages | MOBI | 2.36 Mb Morphological typology is usually limited to the realm of grammar. Accordingly, English is considered an analytic language due to its poor grammatical morphology - but what about the lexicon? Taking a twofold approach, this study investigates the typological development of English nouns since 1150. First, the focus is on the means used to extend the lexicon: Correlating the central noun formation processes as well as borrowing reveals, for the first time, their quantitative importance - with some surprising results. Second, the structure of the lexicon takes center stage: The morphological analysis of all nouns uncovers diachronic shifts - and striking parallels between grammar and lexicon. 13. Free Download Geoffrey Jordan, "English Language Teaching Now and How It Could Be" English | ISBN: 1527582248 | 2022 | 330 pages | PDF | 2 MB This book argues that, to teach languages well, one needs to know how people learn them, and that current English Language teaching (ELT) practice largely ignores this vital question. It offers an up-to-date, accessible discussion of recent developments in knowledge about second and foreign language learning, as well as implications for language teaching. It then provides a critical analysis of the current ELT industry, arguing that its increasing commercialization has led to poor teaching, dull materials, inadequate second language teaching education, and testing procedures that are unfit for purpose. The book then moves on to expose the often-hidden political and economic interests at work, and ends with suggestions for how ELT should be organized to the benefit of learners, teachers, teacher educators and testers alike. It will appeal to undergraduates and masters students of teaching English as an L2 or applied linguistics, as well as practising teachers. 21. Free Download J. Ryan Stackhouse, "Enemies of the People: Hitler's Critics and the Gestapo" English | ISBN: 1108832601 | 2022 | 330 pages | AZW3 | 5 MB How do terror and popularity merge under a dictatorship? How did the Gestapo deal with critics of Nazism? Based on hundreds of secret police case files, Enemies of the People explores the day-to-day reality of political policing under Hitler. Examining the Gestapo's policy of 'selective enforcement', J. Ryan Stackhouse challenges the abiding perception of the Gestapo as policing exclusively through terror. Instead, he reveals the complex system of enforcement that defined the relationship between state and society in the Third Reich and helps to explain the Germans' abiding support for Hitler and their complicity in the regime's crimes. Stories of everyday life in Nazi Germany paint the clearest picture yet of just how differently the Gestapo handled certain groups and actions, and the routine investigation, interrogation, and enforcement practices behind this system. Enemies of the People offers penetrating insights into just how reasonable selective enforcement appeared to Germans, and draws unavoidable parallels with the contemporary threat of authoritarianism. 22. Free Download Enemies of All: The Rise and Fall of the Golden Age of Piracy by Richard Blakemore English | August 6th, 2024 | ISBN: 1639366334 | 336 pages | True EPUB | 23.23 MB A masterful narrative history of the dangerous lives of pirates during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, revealing their unique impact on colonialism and empire. The pirates that exist in our imagination are not just any pirates. Violent sea-raiding has occurred in most parts of the world throughout history, but our popular stereotype of pirates has been defined by one historical moment: the period from the 1660s to the 1730s, the so-called "golden age of piracy." A groundbreaking history of pirates, Enemies of All combines narrative adventure with deeply researched analysis, engrossing readers in the rise of piracy in the later seventeenth century, the debates about piracy in contemporary law and popular media, as well as the imperial efforts to suppress piracy in the early eighteenth century. The Caribbean and American colonies of Britain, France, Spain, and the Netherlands-where piracy surged across these decades-are the main theater for Enemies of All, but this is a global story. Evoking London, Paris, and Amsterdam, Curaçao, Port Royal, Tortuga, and Charleston, the narrative takes readers, too, from Ireland and the Mediterranean to Madagascar and India, from the Arabian Gulf to the Pacific Ocean. Familiar characters like Drake, Morgan, Blackbeard, Bonny and Read, Henry Every, and Captain Kidd all feature here, but so too will the less well-known figures from the history of piracy, their crew-members, shipmates, and their confederates ashore; the men and women whose transatlantic lives were bound up with the rise and fall of piracy. Transforming how readers understand the history of pirates, Enemies of All presents not only the historical evidence but, more importantly, explains the consequences of piracy's unique influence on colonialism and European imperial ambitions. 23. Free Download Alexis Clark, "Enemies in Love: A German POW, a Black Nurse, and an Unlikely Romance" English | 2018 | ISBN: 1620971860 | EPUB | pages: 288 | 5.2 mb A "New & Noteworthy" selection of The New York Times Book Review "Alexis Clark illuminates a whole corner of unknown World War II history." -Walter Isaacson, New York Times bestselling author of Leonardo da Vinci "[A]n irresistible human story. . . . Clark's voice is engaging, and her tale universal." -Jon Meacham, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power and American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House A true and deeply moving narrative of forbidden love during World War II and a shocking, hidden history of race on the home front This is a love story like no other: Elinor Powell was an African American nurse in the U.S. military during World War II; Frederick Albert was a soldier in Hitler's army, captured by the Allies and shipped to a prisoner-of-war camp in the Arizona desert. Like most other black nurses, Elinor pulled a second-class assignment, in a dusty, sun-baked-and segregated-Western town. The army figured that the risk of fraternization between black nurses and white German POWs was almost nil. Brought together by unlikely circumstances in a racist world, Elinor and Frederick should have been bitter enemies; but instead, at the height of World War II, they fell in love. Their dramatic story was unearthed by journalist Alexis Clark, who through years of interviews and historical research has pieced together an astounding narrative of race and true love in the cauldron of war. Based on a New York Times story by Clark that drew national attention, Enemies in Love paints a tableau of dreams deferred and of love struggling to survive, twenty-five years before the Supreme Court's Loving decision legalizing mixed-race marriage-revealing the surprising possibilities for human connection during one of history's most violent conflicts. 25. Free Download Endangered Languages (MIT Press Essential Knowledge) by Evangelia Adamou English | August 6th, 2024 | ISBN: 0262548704 | 264 pages | True EPUB | 0.44 MB A concise, accessible introduction to language endangerment and why it is one of the most urgent challenges of our times. 58% of the world's languages-or, approximately 4,000 languages-are endangered. When we break this figure down, we realize that roughly ten percent of languages have fewer than ten language keepers. And, if one language stops being used every three months, this means that in the next 100 years, if we do nothing, 400 more languages will become dormant. In Endangered Languages, Evangelia Adamou, a specialist of endangered languages and a learner of her own community language, Nashta, offers a sobering look at language endangerment and what is truly lost when a language disappears from usage. Combining recent advances from the Western scientific tradition-from the fields of linguistics, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, language attrition, population genetics, and natural language processing-and insights from Indigenous epistemology, theory, and ethics, Adamou examines a wealth of issues surrounding endangered languages. She discusses where endangered languages are found, including how they are faring in a digital world, why these languages are no longer used, and how communities can reclaim languages and keep them strong. Adamou also explains the impact of language continuity on community and individual health and well-being, the importance of language transmission in cultural transmission, and why language rights are essentially human rights. Drawing on varied examples from the Wampanoag Nation to Wales, Endangered Languages offers a powerful reminder of the crucial role every language has in the vitality and well-being of individuals, communities, and our world.
