This online course, available at your convenience, on-demand, will show you how to master the twelve steps of a digital production pipeline that is built for the individual artist.

 

What does a production pipeline do?

 

The animation studios (especially those producing for television) have very clear systems in place to get the property produced in the most economical way possible. Once the idea is created and sent into their system (pipeline), the focus is on efficiently transforming the idea into a finished product - on schedule.

 

You bring your ideas, a computer, and your current drawing skill level. That's it! This system shows you where to get the software you need, and guides you through each step all the way to your finished cartoon.

 

What are the requirements?

 

This course is built around Toon Boom Harmony and Toon Boom Storyboard Pro software, both of which have full-featured trial downloads. Although it is possible to go through this course using only the trial versions (I'll tell you at which lesson to start your trial), it is recommended to utilize the new, affordable subscription model for those softwares to best benefit from the course.

The additional software that is suggested for some lessons (Sketchbook Express, Audacity, Gimp) runs on both Mac and Windows operating systems and can be downloaded at no cost.

A quick look at the system requirements specifications of the listed software will help students find the appropriate computer needed to take the course.

Additionally, it is suggested, but not required, to use a Wacom tablet and stylus for some parts of the course.
