Artist: Eric Gale Title: Touch Of Silk [Japan Blu-Spec CD] Year Of Release: 2009 (1980) Label: Sony Music [sICP-20240] Genre: Jazz, Soul-Jazz, Jazz-funk Quality: FLAC (tracks+.cue, log, scans) Total Time: 39:05 Total Size: 342 MB AllMusic Review by Thom Jurek: In 1980, guitarist and composer Eric Gale came off the commercial success of 1979's Part of You (produced by Ralph MacDonald) and didn't do the obvious thing. Rather than make another record that swung for the smooth jazz fences, he made a darker, deeper, funkier, and bluesier album with legendary New Orleans producer Allen Toussaint. The sessions included the cream of the Crescent City's jazz-funk crop as well as mates Charlie Earland, Grover Washington, Jr., and Idris Muhammad, three of soul-jazz's greatest lights - with special guest Arthur Blythe on the Charlie Parker nugget "Au Privave" as a curve ball. Toussaint wrote four of the album's seven tracks, and they range from the murky blue soul-jazz of "You Got My Life in Your Hands" to the sweet, boudoir-perfect urban-styled title track. Gale is a consummate soloist, full of lilting and biting grooves, with stunning phrasing that maximizes the rhythmic effect of his high strings (such as on "War Paint"), and he never plays an extra note. The beautiful ballad "With You I'm Born Again" has Washington playing some of his most haunting soprano, and the wildly funked-up "Au Privave," a holdover from the bop generation that keeps its original flavor despite the three-instrument front line of Earland's B-3, Blythe's alto, and Gale's chunky bottom strings (which are accented in his comping through the changes), is nothing short of astonishing. This is one of the great versions of the tune, especially in this modern context, and offers solid proof of Gale's bebop roots. Tracklist: 01. You Got My Life In Your Hands 02. Touch Of Silk 03. Artist: Keith Jarrett Title: Bop-Be Year Of Release: 2015 (1977) Label: Verve Reissues Genre: Jazz, Post-Bop Quality: FLAC (tracks) [24Bit/192kHz] Total Time: 39:14 Total Size: 1,53 GB Bop-Be is the final album on the Impulse label by jazz pianist Keith Jarrett's 'American Quartet'. Originally released in 1977 it features performances by Jarrett, Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, and Paul Motian. It is the last album recorded by the American Quartet and the final album Jarrett released on a label other than ECM. "Here is another LP helping from the Keith Jarrett 'American' Quartet's last recording session -- one that is almost as consistent in quality as its predecessor. The happy-go-lucky groove of the title track perfectly expresses its name, with Jarrett blithely singing along; both Dewey Redman and Charlie Haden get plenty of solo space on Redman's 'Gotta Get Some Sleep' and Haden's 'Pocket Full of Cherry' (a pun referring to Haden cohort Don Cherry); and Paul Motian remains a marvelously flexible drummer. Moreover, there is another fascinating swatch of Middle Eastern experimentation on 'Pyramids Moving.'" - AllMusic "I love this collection of quartet material ... Dewey Redman is showing so much control and heart on the saxophone that dominates what is nominally a pianist's record. A." Tracklist: 01. Mushi Mushi (6:01) 02. Silence (3:13) 03. Bop-Be (6:57) 04. Artist: Eddie Turner & Trouble Twins Title: Naked... In Your Face Year Of Release: 2016 Label: Self Released Genre: Electric Blues, Blues Rock Quality: 320 kbps Total Time: 75:06 Total Size: 174 MB Tracklist: 1. Jody ( 6:08) 2. Mistreated ( 8:07) 3. So Many Roads ( 9:14) 4. Rise (11:04) 5. Buried Alive In The Blues ( 6:36) 6. Blues Fall Down Like Rain ( 7:54) 7. Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood ( 4:56) 8. Dangerous (12:15) 9. Secret ( 8:47) Eddie Turner has done just about everything. A guitarist since age 12, he honed his skills alongside San Francisco's legendary Tracy Nelson & Mother Earth in the '70s and Denver's hard-hitting Zephyr in the '80s, before becoming a founding member of the Otis Taylor Band in the '90s and then earning a prestigious Blues Music Award nomination for his own solo career in the mid-2000s. The Denver-based guitarist, singer and bandleader has toured the world, garnering countless fans and an outpouring of critical acclaim in the process. But "Naked ... In Your Face" marks a first for Turner, who has never before released an in-concert recording. The title tells you all you need to know: No shrinking violet of a live album, this varied, vibrant set finds the musician at his most stylistically audacious, crossing boundaries with the same brazen confidence he's shown throughout his career. Recorded last August at The Blues Can in Calgary, Alberta, during a tour of Canada and the western United States, the album features Turner in a power-trio format. Joining him are bassist Anna Lisa Hughes, a fellow Denver resident who sings lead on several cuts here, including covers of classics such as "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and "Buried Alive in the Blues" as well as her original composition "Mistreated," and drummer Kelly Kruse, an in-demand sideman in Canada who also plays guitar with Calgary's Adele & the Krusers. "I still get emails saying, 'That was one of the best bands I've ever seen. When are you going to tour again?'" says Turner. "And I loved the way Anna Lisa's voice and mine meshed together. The three of us came together and threw all our influences into a pot, ending up with something that's completely different. I wanted to record songs that, without this particular band, I'll probably never do again." Fitting for a man who grew up outside of Chicago watching iconic blues figures such as Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf ply their trade -- but also seeing acts like Jimi Hendrix and Cream take the music to new, more rock-influenced directions -- Turner has developed a sound that's informed by tradition yet adventurous enough to not be limited by it. As the man himself puts it, "If you want to be a purist, be one not because you started there and stopped there. Be one because you went everywhere else and decided to come back. Because no music is truly pure. Everything has a little dirt in it." http://rapidgator.net/file/7163a7e98987963e5707583e14bb8139/EddieTurnerFace2016.rar.html http://ssh.tf/zB9Jl5MAg/EddieTurnerFace2016.rar http://uploaded.net/file/7gvdyefa/EddieTurnerFace2016.rar

Artist: Eddie Martin Title: Black White And Blue Year Of Release: 2016 Label: Blueblood Records Genre: Blues Rock Quality: 320 kbps Total Time: 49:13 Total Size: 115 MB Tracklist: 1. Mississippi Sound (4:54) 2. Angry (5:25) 3. Black White And Blue (5:10) 4. I Choose You (5:28) 5. Too Much Choice (4:25) 6. Graceful Ways (4:39) 7. I've Lost My Phone (3:24) 8. How (4:44) 9. Song Of Five Things (4:01) 10. It All Depends (6:59) Explosive and exciting: That's how a blues rock album should start, and Eddie Martin's 10th studio album "Black White and Blue" begins like it means to take no prisoners. But if you are expecting endless guitar soloing and a generic list of grooves instead of proper songs - so often the case with blues-rock releases - you are soon enlightened. Martin's songs may ROCK but they are well-crafted and sophisticated. After 2 rave-reviewed big band projects, the blues-man Eddie Martin is back with 10 original songs and a punchy trio for his 16th release. "Black White and Blue" marks a career pinnacle for this prolific musician and his 30-year mission to explore, study and update blues traditions. His humble respect to the Afro-American legacy goes deep and he is not shy to acknowledge the racism that gave birth to the blues. But here he is also cool about the contribution of his white-boy contemporaries since the era of Classic Rock. A verse in the album title song puts it like this "The African legacy shines like a jewel..We're now in a blend, but the history is bruised: It's all black, white and blue." Martin can strut a blues-rock guitar solo with the best of them (Hendrix and SRV influences resonate on "Angry" and the title track "Black, White and Blue" for example), but Martin is all about pushing the genre forward. Alongside his fluid slide playing and pyrotechnic Strat-wielding he also showcases his extraordinary simultaneous harp and guitar soloing skills. In fact, for all the simplicity of the line-up here, this album is like a lesson in how many different textures and sounds you can treat a bunch of strong songs to in a trio. Martin is full of surprises and, running his own record label, he relishes the creative freedom this allows to do something fresh and different each release. If it means his work is sometimes difficult to pigeon-hole then don't worry. As Willie Dixon said "Blues is the roots: the rest is the fruits". Eddie comes out rocking on this one. But its nothing if not a juicy new fruit to savour from the blues stall of the "Ambassador of British Blues". http://rapidgator.net/file/d3f68d5aca2bf6a1b4aacdde9d36e625/EddieMartinBlue2016.rar.html http://ssh.tf/c0GOxcPAg/EddieMartinBlue2016.rar http://uploaded.net/file/ki51eqzc/EddieMartinBlue2016.rar

Artist: Ed Hamilton Title: Groovology Year Of Release: 1998 Label: Shanachie Genre: Jazz / Smooth Jazz Quality: Mp3 / 320kbps Total Time: 44:20 min Total Size: 101 MB Tracklist ---------- 01. Fly like an eagle 02. If only 03. On my way 04. Ooh child 05. Jj's groove 06. April goodbyes 07. Souls felt 08. Jinda boogie 09. Didn't i (blow your mind this time) 10. Song for a princess Dead set on achieving success as a smooth jazz guitarist, Ed Hamilton seems to have abandoned some of the playful sense of humor and adventurous edge which characterized his first two albums. Groovology features beautiful compositions and a solid mix of subtle warmth (as on the tribute "Song for a Princess") and more jumpy expressions which remind us of his sharp improvisational skills. Hamilton also plays the ace card of seamlessly interacting with the soprano sax of Tim Ries over the floating synth textures of pieces like "If Only" and "Ooh Child." Likewise, he creates interesting mood swings by varying his tones from high to low over a bubbling, synth-created, blues organ flavor throughout the light funk cover of "Fly Like an Eagle." It's all perfectly amiable, yet considering the artistic splash his previous works made, Hamilton plays it too close to the vest; there are few traces of the brew of hard rock, avant-garde, spacy fusion, and bebop that made his Path to the Heartland such an eye opener. ~ Jonathan Widran Personnel: Ed Hamilton (guitar, keyboards, bass, programming); Tim Ries (saxophone); Dave Falciani (piano). http://rapidgator.net/file/f63b6245a769eb28b2a0530efb5eb05a/EdHamiltonGroovology.rar.html http://ssh.tf/k4Ce58QAg/EdHamiltonGroovology.rar http://uploaded.net/file/dvv26lzs/EdHamiltonGroovology.rar

Artist: Doug Webb Title: Bright Side Year Of Release: 2016 Label: Posi-Tone Records Genre: Jazz Quality: Mp3 / 320kbps Total Time: 62:44 min Total Size: 144 MB Tracklist ---------- 01. Society Al 02. Silver Lining 03. The Drive 04. Bahia 05. Doctor Miles 06. Steak Sauce 07. Melody For Margie 08. Slo Mo 09. One For Hank 10. Lunar 11. Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out To Dry 12. Funky Medina From one perspective, Doug Webb's Bright Side is basically twelve tracks clothed in very recognizable forms a few varieties of soul-jazz, a couple of heartfelt ballads, a taut bossa nova, and an array of middling and up tempo straight- ahead swingers. Although the material is thoroughly enjoyable, it's tempting to succumb to a nagging notion that its all been done countless times before, and then simply move on to a record by yet another brave soul planting his/her flag in the jazz tradition. Fortunately, what enables Bright Side to add up to something more than a competent, professionally executed jazz record, is a slew of highlights, bright moments, and outright cool stuff that populates every track. A quintet consisting of Webb's tenor sax, trumpeter Joe Magnarelli, guitarist Ed Cherry, organist Brian Charette, and drummer Steve Fidyk (all of whom have led dates for the Posi-Tone Records label) operates like a well-oiled machine. Listening to how nicely all of the parts fit together, and the fact that you can easily discern each player's contribution, are important facets of the disc's appeal. For instance, Cherry's work on the heads and his comping behind individual soloists are delivered in subtle yet decisive ways that add rich, distinctive flavors while taking up a minimum amount of space. The same can be said about Charette, whose primary concern is holding down the band's bottom, but, with due cause, asserts himself by means of vivid chords. Fully capable of inhabiting any role the music requires, Fidyk often jolts the band with thickset snare accents, frequently plays fluid, inconspicuous jazz time, and always executes smart, stimulating fills regardless of the type of groove. Webb's voice as an improviser possesses real character regardless of the kind of song he's playing. Check out the R & B influenced "Society Al" for the way in which he gets down by himself at the onset of the track, pausing and briefly falling silent amidst a fair amount honking and shouting. Later on during his solo over the band's uncluttered funk, Webb executes notey runs, brief, tantalizing hesitations, quick, meaningful digressions, as well as broad, weighty tones and makes all of them sound like they belong in close proximity to one another. Magnarelli's solos particularly on "Steak Sauce," "Slo Mo," and "Lunar" contain a fair measure of brassy power mixed with a kind of subdued, floating quality that feels emotionally vulnerable. Cherry possesses a unique, understated style, doling out notes with a soulful circumspection. His all-too-brief intro to "One For Hank" is the epitome of sparse perfection, so simple that it's easy to take it for granted. The guitarist's gift for making improvised lines sound both ephemeral and sturdy is also apparent throughout the gentle "Bahia," where every single note and chord breathes easy and carries an almost imperceptible weight. In the end, Webb and company make it simple to enjoy the music instead of indulging in critical hair splitting or fretting about stylistic proclivities and influences. ~ David A.Orthmann Personnel: Doug Webb: tenor saxophone; Joe Magnarelli: trumpet; Brian Charette: organ; Ed Cherry: guitar; Steve Fidyk: drums. http://rapidgator.net/file/61282f415e188324f93b5d518fe1fe1c/DougWebbSide.rar.html http://ssh.tf/d4WwYC2Ag/DougWebbSide.rar http://uploaded.net/file/ieyg1ob2/DougWebbSide.rar

Artist: Donald Harrison, Ron Carter, Billy Cobham Title: Heroes Year Of Release: 2004 Label: Nagel Heyer Records Genre: Jazz Quality: Mp3 / 320kbps Total Time: 65:06 min Total Size: 151 MB Tracklist ---------- 01. Heroes 02. Blues for the new millennium 03. My Funny Valentine 04. One Of A Kind 05. Double Trouble 06. Receipt Please 07. Candlelight 08. Solar 09. Free Style 10. Iko Iko 11. Straight No Chaser Ron Carter, one of altoist Donald Harrison's heroes and the primary bassist on this recording, makes the point that Harrison comes from New Orleans, but doesn't insist that he does. Harrison approaches his tradition with a pure heart, and from his apprenticeship with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers in the mid '80s through his own leadership in the '90s, he has evolved an historical idiom into an absolutely contemporary, individual style. The title track kicks things off in the searching, striving style of a Wayne Shorter composition, with Harrison's other hero, Billy Cobham, clicking away on his cymbals, and Harrison's tone a bit edgier than elsewhere, accentuating the song's feeling of pursuit. Nothing else in the trio format, or in duet with Carter, reaches this level of urgency. The order of the day is swing and hard bop, with touches of Charlie Parker in the "I Got Rhythm" chords of "Double Trouble" and the Monk-like "Blues for the New Millennium," where Harrison's horn sounds more like a soprano aimed at the snake in the basket. Carter's bass is the dominant supporting voice on Heroes, offering a beautifully tasteful extended solo on a duet version of "My Funny Valentine," where you find yourself singing the words along with Harrison's perfectly rendered lead, and on "Solar," where Carter establishes a rapid tempo and Harrison keeps joyous pace. On "Candlelight," the album's most impressive cut, Harrison caresses the keys gently and romantically, subtly shifting tempo as if he were approaching his date seated on the couch, first suavely relaxed, then impatient, then with his composure regained. Heroes closes with three "bonus tracks" featuring a different trio with Vicente Archer on bass and John Lamkin on drums. With these two, the beats are heavier and the bass lines funkier. Lamkin hits hard on "Free Style," he and Archer handle the second-line rhythms of "Iko Iko" deftly, and Harrison's alto is as warm and sweet as peppermint liqueur. I realize Carter and Cobham are the stars of the show, but these two tracks along with the funky dip of a final "Well You Needn't" leave me looking forward to Harrison's next genre-stretching offering with his usual bandmates. ~ Jeff Stockton https://www.allaboutjazz.com/heroes-donald-harrison-nagel-heyer-records-review-by-jeff-stockton.php Personnel: Vicente Archer: Bass; Billy Cobham: Drums; Donald Harrison: Alto Sax; John Lamkin: Drums; Ron Carter: Bass. http://rapidgator.net/file/d55b77d43ef378c1befac068d504f64d/DonaldHeroes.rar.html http://ssh.tf/POcbsbFJg/DonaldHeroes.rar http://uploaded.net/file/5ewq2g9o/DonaldHeroes.rar

Artist: Donald Byrd And 125th Street, N.Y.C. Title: Words, Sounds, Colors And Shapes Year Of Release: 2007-07-17 (1982) Label: Wounded Bird Records (USA) Genre: R&B, Soul/Funk, Jazz-Funk, Electronic, Disco Quality: FLAC (img.+.cue+.log) MP3 320kbps Total Time: 40:13 Total Size: 292,18 97,80 Mb (Scans) A definite soul based session for Donald Byrd - and that's saying a lot here, because his previous decade's worth of work had all had some sort of R&B focus. The main force behind the set here is Isaac Hayes - who's producing, arranging, and playing most of the keyboards on the album. Oddly, Ike's not singing at all - and vocals are instead handled by Rose Williams, Diane Davis, Pat Lewis, and Myra Walker - plus the Hot Buttered Soul group on backing vocals. Most tunes have such a strong vocal focus that Byrd's horn gets far less solo space than before - but overall, the album's still got a nice mix of funky jazz and modern soul, and grooves a lot better than most other efforts of this nature from the time. Great, long overlooked grooves from Byrd. Titles include "Sexy Dancer", "Midnight", "High Energy", "Star Trippin", "Forbidden Love", and "Everyday". We'll Be The Light (3:51) A classic-sounding Southern rock band out on Knoxville, Tennessee, the Dirty Guv'nahs (frontman James Trimble, Hammond organist Chris Doody, pianist Michael Jenkins, guitarists Michael Jenkins and Cozmo Holloway, and brothers Justin and Aaron Hoskins on bass and drums, respectively) create an energized musical blend that recalls the Black Crowes, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the Allman Brothers Band, with a dose of Americana and the Band tossed in for seasoning. The band formed when the members were attending university in Knoxville, and what was initially supposed to be just a couple of occasional gigs really took off, and the band quickly developed a loyal local following. The Dirty Guv'nahs' energetic and inspired live shows earned them opening spots for acts like the Zac Brown Band, Wilco, and the Levon Helm Band, among others, and a performance slot at Bonnaroo -- a show that led to a recording session in 2009 at Levon Helm Studios. Two independent releases followed, 2009's The Dirty Guv'nahs and 2010's Youth Is in Our Blood. The band continued to evolve its sound on its third album, Somewhere Beneath These Southern Skies, which was produced by Ross Copperman, engineered by Richie Biggs, and released in 2012 through a distribution deal with Dualtone Music. ~ Steve Leggett http://rapidgator.net/file/e52fdb0a6a0e61ab2cb464d8f8b2b976/Dirty_Guv_nahs_-_Rock___Roll_For_The_People_2016.rar.html http://ssh.tf/ia6RzBbcg/Dirty_Guv_nahs_-_Rock___Roll_For_The_People_2016.rar http://uploaded.net/file/9n217dy8/Dirty_Guv_nahs_-_Rock___Roll_For_The_People_2016.rar
