Elkatwin 61 SoundsThe Elkatwin allows you to select two synth patches at once, layer them on top of each other, and control them independently. We took this idea straight from the original hardware and improved on it by adding dual controls to make it quick and easy to manipulate the two layers independently. There is a choice of eight patches including vibes, pianos, organs, guitars, classic brass, and of course synth strings, that you can distort, twist, and layer to create totally unique sounds. In addition to the main patches the instrument also offers separate bass sounds. These extend the low range of the instrument and provide even more layering opportunities as the four bass patches can be used together in any combination; something that wasn't possible on the original hardware. We have included a multitude of synth effects, both sampled from the original hardware and provided by Kontakt. These include two multi-speed rotator modes, a phaser, multi-octave symphonic mode (similar to a chorus effect), and a variable speed portamento-glide feature. Soniccouture Wassolou Balafon KONTAKT | 329 Mb French musician Jean-Philippe Rykiel contacted us about a unique type of African balafon in which each key had "snares" that vibrated when played, giving it a interesting buzzing quality. Sometimes called a "gyil"(JEE-le), it's usually found in parts of northern Ghana, Burkina Faso, and south-eastern Mali. Hardwood keys are suspended over calabash gourds. Rykiel has long been involved with West African musicians, having collaborated with both the wonderful Salif Keita and Youssou N'Dour. For the balafon however, he knew of a virtuoso player from Burkina Faso named Mamadou Diabate now living in Austria. He enlisted Mamadou to play the instrument for a recording session that he would conduct himself. The recordings then made their way to us, and the result is the instrument you find here. Samples From Mars Databenders Toolkit - MULTiFORMAT | 456 MB Demented FX Created From Scratch by Manipulating Computer Data. Raw video game code sounds crazy when you pump it through your computer's audio driver - more devastating than an oscillator from any synthesizer. Databending is the process of manipulating digital information meant for one format, like a .jpg image file, within the context of another file format - in this case, .WAV audio. You can think of this as a digital version of circuit bending (when toys and keyboards are purposefully short circuited to produce spontaneous sounds). Created Digitally + Thickened with Analog Saturation For this release, LA Based sound designer Skylar Trainor spent months bending 3d models, A.I. brains, graphics engines, VST plugins and his audio driver. The results of these long sessions were then sculpted and layered in Pro-Tools, and sent to Samples From Mars headquarters for extensive analog saturation. We made sure the waveforms became denser and packed with varieties of harmonic distortion. Then, we built a wide variety of custom instrument patches in Ableton, Logic and Kontakt, applying complex FX and modulation routing, creating playable instruments out of the madness. The Results: Cold and glitchy soundscapes, dark ambience, powerful and dirty drums and subs, reverses, and mutli-sampled modulations. Musical Sampling Soaring Strings KONTAKT | 3.87 Gb We wanted performances that catered to... (yes, I have to say it) soaring string lines and dramatic passages by having the players really dig in with the vibrato and giving us all they had with the triple forte dynamic. This also meant approaching the sessions in a unique, musical way to capture the kind of singular legato we were looking for. Another focus was to dial things back with what we felt was necessary to produce credible string arrangements in a shorter amount of time. This involved creating a single, natural mix and omitting seldom-used legato articulations. We also developed a "Sustain Sync" feature that synchronizes the starting sustain with the following intervals/repetitions, which saves you from having to make adjustments to start-notes to closely match the intervals timing upon quantization. Lastly, we included a "To Silence" button that can enable the modwheel to completely diminish the softest dynamic to silence. This not only provides unique possibilities with expression, but also saves the need to use another controller to simulate a decrescendo to "niente". We also agreed that recording medium-sized ensembles in their traditional seating arrangement would not only provide enough "solo-istic" detail in the recordings, but would have a more natural transparency when writing harmonies. After various tests throughout the year, months of recording, editing, programming and bringing the polish as far as we could - we're thrilled to finally share our debut offering, Soaring Strings. Ilya Efimov Hulusi KONTAKT | 236 Mb The hulusi or cucurbit flute is a free reed wind instrument from China. It is held vertically and has three bamboo pipes which pass through a gourd wind chest; the center pipe has finger holes and the outer two are typically drone pipes. It is not uncommon for a hulusi to have only one drone pipe while the second outer pipe is merely ornamental. The drone pipe has a finger hole, which allows it to be stopped. Advanced configurations have keyed finger holes similar to a clarinet or oboe, which can greatly extend the range of the hulusi to several octaves. The hulusi was originally used primarily in the Yunnan province by the Dai-along with other southern Chinese ethnic groups who called it "bilangdao". It has since gained nationwide popularity, similar to the harmonica in the West. "Improved" versions have been produced outside of the indigenous realms. Like the related free reed pipe called bawu, the hulusi has a very pure, clarinet-like sound. Although the hulusi is still predominantly performed in China, it has in recent years been adopted by European composers and performers. Rohan Leach from England, Rapheal De Cock from Belgium and Herman Witkam from the Netherlands have all taken the instrument in new directions. Our hulusi library will allow you to imitate virtually anything that a real hulusi could play. We recorded intervals for up and down legato articulations in two variants: normal legato and glissando. We have provided the ability to vary the dynamics of the instrument to convey a wide, detailed range of expression from pp to ff. Natural vibrato may be added to the sound at any time. Staccato articulations provide added realism by means of a round-robin algorithm. Users can reassign keyswitches and midi-controllers, then save the changes to a user preset.
