  5. Artist: Daniel Freedman Title: Imagine That Year Of Release: 2016 Label: Anzic Records Genre: Jazz Quality: FLAC (tracks) / MP3 Total Time: 49:14 min Total Size: 341 MB / 112 MB Tracklist: 1. Determined Soul (5:28) 2. Baby Aya (6:03) 3. Big in Yemen (4:47) 4. Codex (5:07) 5. Mindaho (7:08) 6. Love Takes Time (5:26) 7. Eastern Elegy (6:32) 8. The Sisters Dance (8:50) Personnel: Daniel Freedman - drums; Omer Avital - bass, oud; Lionel Loueke - guitar, vocals; Gilmar Gomes - percussion; Jason Lindner - piano, keyboards; Angelique Kidjo - vocals. Few can match drummer Daniel Freedman when it comes to pan-stylistic jazz presentations that cut across cultural lines. This lifelong New Yorker has found a way to bridge sonic worlds, erase boundary lines, and merge various musical languages in masterful fashion in his own work and in support of others. It's no wonder why the best of the best-the one and only Sting, West African superstar Angelique Kidjo, and Israeli clarinet queen Anat Cohen, to mention three-have called on Freedman. He isn't nearly as well-known as he should be at this point, due in no small part to the fact that his sideman duties take up much of his time, but with each successive release under his own name he furthers his reputation as one of the most open-minded drummer-leaders on record. Imagine That, Freedman's third album, is a logical next step given what appeared on its predecessor-Bamako By Bus (Anzic Records, 2012). It's a global feast for the senses built by one of the most intriguing multicultural units assembled in recent times. What emerges, with Brooklynite Jason Lindner manning the keys, Benin-born sensation Lionel Loueke on guitar, Israeli Omer Avital holding things down on bass, and Brazilian percussionist Gilmar Gomes adding rhythmic spice to the mix, is a beyond-category hybridized form of music. Pan-African presentations, Carnatic ideals, Middle Eastern sounds, blues-tinged suggestions, modern jazz tides, and more all come into the picture at one time or another. The grooves are deep, the harmonies are intriguing, and the end result is something that's both smart and stirring. This band gets down on the dance floor right out of the gate with Lindner's "Determined Soul," a piece with pseudo-Afrobeat undercurrents and Indian inflections. It's the first of many rhythmically rousing numbers on the bill, and each one relies on different source material and stylized directions. There's Freedman's "Baby Aya," a cradle song that morphs into a celebration and features Loueke and Kidjo, making her lone guest appearance, on vocals; "Big In Yemen," built on a "Yemeni/Bahia hybrid" groove cooked up by Freedman and Gomes; Loueke's "Mindaho," a hypnotic, slow-building roamer that features some of the guitarist's most entrancing playing on record; and the Gnawa-influenced "The Sisters Dance," uplifted by inspired contributions from Gomes and some fiery, barbed guitar work from Loueke. In other places, Freedman and company prove to be just as engaging without putting such a premium on rhythmic dialogue. Radiohead's "Codex," for example, moves from a cinematic space to a pure rock environment. Then there's "Love Takes Time," an undiluted soul experience, and "Eastern Elegy," a universal threnody of a sort that tugs at the heartstrings and features some incredibly moving bass work from Avital. With the eight numbers presented here, Daniel Freedman manages to prove that seemingly dissimilar musics, much like people, can prove to be completely compatible. Imagine that. -- Dan Bilawsky http://rapidgator.net/file/8c3115b2fbdc6dc2961207233f3d5a2f/IMTH.rar.html http://ssh.tf/ullleWKE7/IMTH.rar http://uploaded.net/file/1l8ij59k/IMTH.rar http://rapidgator.net/file/0426c5eec24070ff7079f012a619cace/IMTH320.rar.html http://ssh.tf/rVlNQ9yD7/IMTH320.rar http://uploaded.net/file/ed3oholm/IMTH320.rar

  9. Artist: Chuck Loeb Title: #1 Smooth Jazz Radio Hits! Year Of Release: 2009 Label: Shanachie Genre: Smooth Jazz Quality: FLAC (tracks) / MP3 Total Time: 01:05:00 Total Size: 435 MB / 162 MB Tracklist: 01. Just Us (5:24) 02. The Music Inside (5:21) 03. Cruzin South (5:06) 12. eBop (4:57) "The title is self-explanatory: guitarist Chuck Loeb has scored no less than a dozen number one hits on radio charts for smooth jazz. He has also played on literally hundreds of records, making him the Tommy Tedesco (most recorded guitarist in history) of the genre. None of that matters very much to his fans, and this collection is clearly assembled for them. While fans of smooth jazz (and what is now called "contemporary jazz"in the 21st century) will have enjoyed Loeb's music and may even be familiar with it, it's not so much the individual tracks that matter as the consistent sound and vibe. Early on, Loeb embraced the feel of smooth jazz and became one of its great ambassadors, displaying a knack for writing and producing music custom-tailored to the radio format that was so successful in the 1980s and 1990s (and continues in mutated form in the 2000s). His name has become synonymous with the genre, and the most memorable of his hits have their own timeless quality: "Blue Kiss," "Sarao," "Just Us," and of course, "The Music Inside." Other tracks will be not be especially well known by name but are easily identifiable by sound, including "Tropical," "High Five," and "Cruzin' South." The slippery, silky backbeat funk Loeb employs as a canvas in his tunes comes across as immediately welcoming and accessible; his guitar lines are always fluid; and his soloing is cut into short, tight pockets. Many of his collaborators are well known in the world of jazz at large as well: John Pattitucci, Jason Miles, Jim Beard, Will Lee, and Nestor Torres are all here, as well as many more. This set is a welcome addition to Loeb's catalog and will likely deeply satisfy any listener who enjoys smooth jazz. -- Thom Jurek http://rapidgator.net/file/71141adeabda74c2af146e5d39ea2740/CLRAH.rar.html http://ssh.tf/Xkj06Q3f7/CLRAH.rar http://uploaded.net/file/r5fgxsim/CLRAH.rar http://rapidgator.net/file/df5292d0b7669f6019d445f3e88f956e/CLRAH320.rar.html http://ssh.tf/QzM8d1Iu7/CLRAH320.rar http://uploaded.net/file/bbhyioce/CLRAH320.rar

Undeniable [03:19] Guitarist, composer, and arranger Chieli Minucci is the leader of the Grammy-nominated jazz-fusion group Special EFX, which he co-founded with the late George Jinda in 1984. A major force on the jazz and world music scene for 25 years, Special EFX's newest release, Without You is a diverse collection of jazz-fusion, world rhythms, and the effortlessly flowing guitar artistry that Chieli (key-eh-lee) is known for. A true sound-tapestry, blending layers of sound and harmonic texture, Without You is an instant classic. This brilliant double CD collection of tracks features the original Special EFX lineup of favorites - drummer Lionel Cordew, bassist Jerry Brooks, keyboardist Jay Rowe, and vocalist/percussionist Philip Hamilton - plus many brilliant guest artists, including keyboardist Jeff Lorber, violinist Karen Briggs, keyboardist Lao Tizer, vocalist Will Brock, bassist Dave Anderson, and violinist Alan Grubner. Special EFX is one of the most prominent world fusion groups of the era. During the course of the band's phenomenal rise to the top of the jazz charts, they released 25 CDs, including Chieli's 8 solo releases and a live concert DVD. Seminal songs like "Daybreak", "Cruise Control", "Bella" and "Seduction" were among their chart-topping hits. This extraordinary super group takes their vibrant and exciting sound to the next level on its new Without You release, which encompasses diverse and eclectic sounds ranging from jazz fusion to world beat, pop vocals and rock-tinged arrangements. Chieli's latest project, the Special EFX CD Without You highlights an extraordinary career and is essential listening for his legions of fans. Songs like "Love's Lost in Translation" blends Philip Hamilton's mellifluous voice with romance and angst in an exotic, world music setting. Long-time fans may recognize parts of "The Night Is Ours", which is a completely re-written version of Special EFX's 1982 signature song "Sambuca Nights". Fans will also be entranced with "Hushabye", which was originally released as the instrumental "Sweet Surrender" but has been transformed with the addition of the soulful vocals of Will Brock. And for George Jinda fans, the tune "Man with a Drum" captures his original percussion sounds. Talented virtuosos Jeff Lorber, Karen Briggs and Lao Tizer are featured on tracks that may become the "new" classics for Special EFX. "Legendary keyboardist Jeff Lorber is a brilliant musical collaborator on 'Mountina Jameroon'. I'm excited to have his high intensity electric jazz flavorings on the new Special EFX CD," says Chieli. "I brought Karen Briggs into the project after hearing her amazing violin work on Yanni's Live at the Acropolis," explains Chieli. "She takes the violin to another dimension on our songs 'Lakeside' and 'Wonderboy.'" Special guest Lao Tizer brings his powerful piano vibe to the tracks "Bacchanalia" and "Afterglow". "I discovered Lao when he was 19 years old and we've been collaborating ever since. I knew his high-energy, unique piano work would bring another level of emotion to these Special EFX songs," says Chieli. Showcasing truly incredible musicianship, Special EFX's captivating jazz fusion textures and progressive new age twists take listeners on an uplifting musical ride they'll never forget. "Without You" showcases the band's special gift for combining harmony, feeling, and flawless technique with remarkable passion. http://rapidgator.net/file/2412369a01077a4f8fd6791bb87c06d8/CMIWY.rar.html http://ssh.tf/DBrjynOf7/CMIWY.rar http://uploaded.net/file/xjrvwfh6/CMIWY.rar http://rapidgator.net/file/64d3e2b7627824d227598931c5337092/CMIWY320.rar.html http://ssh.tf/h0Ca1UjE7/CMIWY320.rar http://uploaded.net/file/o3333ys1/CMIWY320.rar
  11. Artist: Seth Walker Title: Gotta Get Back Year Of Release: 2016 Label: Royal Potato Family Genre: Blues, Folk, Rock Quality: FLAC MP3 Total Time: 46:16 Total Size: 278 MB 110 MB Tracklist: 1. High Time (3:54) 2. Fire In The Belly (2:52) 3. Back Around (4:14) 4. Call My Name (5:36) 5. Movin' On (3:38) 6. Way Past Midnight (3:51) 7. Home Again (3:11) 8. The Sound Of Your Voice (4:29) 9. Turn This Thing Around (2:55) 10. Dreamer (3:31) 11. Gotta Get Back (4:32) 12. Blow Wind Blow (3:28) Like the prior Sky Still Blue (2014), Gotta Get Back bears the involvement of the Wood Brothers but instead of Oliver Wood in the producers seat, that job is handed off to Wood Brothers keyboardist and drummer Jano Rix. Rix like Wood does nothing to get in the way of Walker, his guitar, his voice and his songs; his job was to make sure all is heard in full glory. Gotta Get Back is a little less guitar-heavy but manages to be timeless overall even more so than its immediate predecessor. That timeless factor get raised a tad with some help close to Walker's heart, which brings us back to that family of his. He brought in his father, mother and sister to contribute to string parts for a handful of tunes, something that Seth hadn't had on his records since Leap Of Faith three albums back, but this time, it's - ahem - personal. He even assigned dad Scott the task of creating the string arrangements and three sat in a semi-circle around the son as he stood with his guitar and let that naturally soulful voice of his stream out. The best of these family affairs, "The Sound Of Your Voice," is lifted by Scott Walker's thoughtful string arrangement coming in and out of focus around a nocturnal organ; the chart pours some syrup on it with none of the sappiness. The presence of orchestral flourishes do nothing to disrupt the overall down-home vibe of Walker's music, and while there's that emphasis on "gettin' back," much of the music is connected to Walker's current New Orleans environs. That is unmistakable when the album leads off with a couple of Big Easy funky numbers "High Time" and "Fire In The Belly." The former is fueled by frisky piano tinkling and Chris Wood's acoustic bass, and the latter by Walker's own good 'n' dirty Jimmie Vaughan guitar. "Way Past Midnight" is yet more joyful Nola reverie, a Seth Walker twist on 'Fess Longhair. It's not just the Creole stuff, there's almost no Southern-birthed music style Walker doesn't present here with style, grace and nothing more. A little church organ and spiritual chorus of vocals help to make "Back Around" a gospel delight and a rockabilly guitar puts a accent on the jazzy RnB number "Movin' On." "Call My Name" is a serving of soul-drenched folk-rock characteristic of classic Dobie Gray, "Turn This Thing Around" sounds inspired by the pre-Beatles doo-wop rock of Dion, and then there's the breezy, Caribbean soul of "Dreamer." Walker takes the airplane to a soft landing with his last couple of songs. "Gotta Get Back" encapsulates Walker's seamless blend of country, blues and folk ever so subtly reinforced by a horn arrangement and "Blow Wind Blow" is just Walker with an acoustic guitar, harmony vocals and his familial string section. North Carolina, Nashville, New York, Austin or New Orleans, it doesn't matter where Seth walker hangs his fedora, his rich musical upbringing is always there with him, on this album and, really, any of his records. Gotta Get Back can't be considered return to his core strengths and values when he never really strayed from them. Think of it more as a renewal of his vows to the family and music that made him who he is. ~S. Wishing (Wishing, Piroutte, Pas des Deux) [07:52] Those who have followed Special EFX since the group's early years know that guitarist Chieli Minucci has never been short on vision. He and his late partner George Jinda delighted contemporary jazz fans with material that sparkled and inspired. Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, Chieli Minucci and Special EFX step forward with a tight, diverse, and creative project called Genesis, due for release on May 21. It is an apt title, considering that the group captures the very essence of what it has done from its very beginning - satisfy. Combining fusion and funk, blues and rock with new age, and simply embodying all things jazz, Minucci and company pack this release with some of the most well-conceived original tracks in the band's history. In addition to stellar performances by his core band, Minucci gets quality help on select tracks from guests Lao Tizer (acoustic piano), David Mann (sax and flute), Omar Hakim (drums), Karen Briggs (violin), Xu Feiyu (vocals), Mino Cinelu (percussion), and Vic Starsky (vocals). What makes this top-tier group so special and longstanding? Minucci says, "One of the reasons we have been able to maintain our popularity is because we have evolved and changed over the years. When the band first started, we had a heavy world music influence. Later, we highlighted more of an acid-jazz sound, as well as some progressive fusion-rock thrown in for good measure. When people hear our music, they can expect to hear a little of everything!" How true. In fact, in listening to this project, I immediately heard some of the abstract stylings found in the music of the iconic rock group Pink Floyd years ago. The track here called "Far Away" comes to mind, and visions of guitarist David Gilmour's runs especially came rushing in as I listened to Minucci's hauntingly beautiful 7-minute track "Your Smile, My Heaven." Truly a work of art. Of course, two or three tracks do not a great album make. You will hear so much quality and eclecticism throughout this album that you may have a hard time choosing a fave, as was and is my case. From the up-tempo funky, kinda bluesy, and spirited lead track "Crazy Eights" to the cool and super jazzy "Till the End of Time" to the island groove of "Calico" to the previously mentioned and riveting "Your Smile, My Heaven" and beyond, the band once again does justice to music as a whole. Genesis is indeed a great celebration of quality Special EFX contemporary jazz, and Minucci leaves no room for doubt. ~ Ronald Jackson http://rapidgator.net/file/6338e0ee47fee88d488a2eeb3527b373/CMGE.rar.html http://ssh.tf/N3XBJNef7/CMGE.rar http://uploaded.net/file/k7l772kc/CMGE.rar http://rapidgator.net/file/a3a6b3f150789620de8cbe9cc585f4e5/CMGE320.rar.html http://ssh.tf/JSPHYRIu7/CMGE320.rar http://uploaded.net/file/ja6udf4y/CMGE320.rar

The new CD from legendary keyboardist and four time Blues Music Award Nominee Bruce Katz also features the exciting and brilliant guitarist and vocalist Chris Vitarello. Chris has been performing with the Bruce Katz Band for ten years, but really steps into the limelight on this album, singing and writing tunes, along with Katz. In fact, this album is a true complete band effort, with longtime drummer Ralph Rosen also contributing tunes to the CD, alongside the bandleader, Bruce Katz. Out From the Center is both eclectic and accessible, incorporating emotional blues rooted music as well as traveling the wide world of blues , as Katz calls it. This means the band touches down on jam tunes, traditional piano blues and Boogie Woogie and Hammond B3 powered soul jazz as well. The album consists of eleven original tunes, and continues the band's tradition of combining virtuosic playing, raw emotion and a truly original sound, one that is coming from the soul of the Blues tradition while simultaneously growing that tradition. This is exciting, vital music from a band in its creative prime. http://rapidgator.net/file/0d05a613d9b71f416f5766a2f2e03af4/BruceKatzBandCenter2016.rar.html http://ssh.tf/SDnLFFDu7/BruceKatzBandCenter2016.rar http://uploaded.net/file/wz5sl4gw/BruceKatzBandCenter2016.rar

  21. Artist: Brandon Rhyder Title: That's Just Me Year Of Release: 2013 Label: Reserve Records Genre: Country Quality: Mp3/320 kbps Total Time: 46:36 Total Size: 117 Mb Tracklist: 1. Haggard 2. That's Just Me 3. Leave 4. Love Red 5. Pray the Night 6. Scat Kitty 7. Richest Poor People 8. Don't Rob Me Blind 9. Undercover Lover 10. Some People 11. Hell's Gate 12. Let Him Brandon Rhyder took a different approach to his eighth studio album, 'That's Just Me.' The Texas-based singer-songwriter produced the new collection himself, allowing him to achieve exactly the sound he wanted. "The overall feeling about life resonates on this collection," Rhyder states. "I hope people will see that I, along with my family on and off the road, are focused, driven and thrilled to share our passion." This time around, Rhyder recorded at The Zone in Dripping Strings, Texas. The album's twelve new tracks reflect he broad range of his roots in Americana, blues, and Texas/Red Dirt country, with influences including Hank Williams, Guy Clark, Patty Griffin and Don Williams. Rhyder wrote or co-wrote all of the new tracks, which include contributions from longtime friends and fellow Texas icons Josh Abbott and Wade Bowen. Abbott co-wrote 'Hell's Gates on Fire,' a song that was inspired by a photo taken from Hell's Gate on PK Lake during the intense Texas fires. Other standout tracks on the album include the up-tempo 'Scat Kitty,' and 'Some People,' which is a rootsy take on depression. The first single from the album, 'Haggard,' is heavily inspired by Charlie Daniels and Riders in the Sky, providing a clear picture into Rhyder's youth. The song has already reached No. 1 on the Texas Regional Radio Report. http://rapidgator.net/file/0d21cf9cdba7c2295b076dfb4771b1f0/brtjm2.rar.html http://ssh.tf/Ec6ojYiD7/brtjm2.rar http://uploaded.net/file/1exvt42j/brtjm2.rar
  22. Artist: Artie 'Blues Boy' White Title: Home Tonight Year Of Release: 1997 Label: Waldoxy Records Genre: Blues, Blues Soul Quality: Mp3/320 kbps Total Time: 43:57 Total Size: 111 Mb Tracklist: 1. Your Man Is Home Tonight 2. Somebody's Fool 3. Man Of The House 4. If You Don't Love Me 5. Black Cat Scratchin' 6. High Steppin' Mama 7. The More You Lie To Me 8. Second Chance 9. Feet Must Be Tired 10. One Step From The Blues White was born on April 16, 1937, either in or near the city of Vicksburg, Miss. He sang gospel as a youth, and after moving to Chicago in the mid-1950s, he worked with such local gospel groups as the Full Gospel Wonders and the Sensational True Lights (out of Hopewell Baptist Church at 65th and Cottage Grove). But by the time he began to record in about 1968, he'd crossed over into secular music. His first significant record was "(You Are My) Leanin' Tree" by Chicago songwriter Bob Jones, issued on the AlTee label in 1977. It peaked at number 99 on the national R&B charts. Although he never had another chart single, he recorded and toured consistently until health problems finally slowed him down. A few of his albums made the national R&B charts; some of his singles ("I'm Gonna Marry My Mother-In-Law" in 1991; "Your Man Is Home Tonight" from 1997) became popular along the southern soul-blues circuit. In the early 2000s, he launched his own label, Achilltown. This wasn't the first time he showed an entrepreneurial flair: Back in the '70s, he became the proprietor of Bootsy's Show Lounge at 2335 S. Cottage Grove. In the mid-'80s, he opened its successor, the New Club Bootsy's, at 55th and State and it remained in operation until the early 1990s. At least in Chicago, White will be remembered for his outsized personality as much as for his music. He was almost much a fixture in the audiences at blues shows around Chicago as he was onstage. Whenever a big-name blues revue rolled into town to appear at East of the Ryan on 79th Street, or at Mr. G's Supper Club on 87th, you'd probably find Artie there, sitting at the bar or standing in a corner with a group of friends, surveying the scene through heavy-lidded eyes. When the inevitable recognition came from the stage-"Ladies and gentlemen, we have Artie 'Blues Boy' White in the house tonight!"-he'd break into a smile and acknowledge the applause with a brief wave of offhand, almost regal ease. In his demeanor and his conversation, he seemed to epitomize the prototypical big-city blues hipster: affectionate but gruff, a bit profane, signifying and carrying on with his running buddies, a man among men. ~David Whiteis http://rapidgator.net/file/25a7c556f1b72b22ca1ed657b38cfd0d/abbw7.rar.html http://ssh.tf/LyFysFrD7/abbw7.rar http://uploaded.net/file/foa0hc76/abbw7.rar

Bad Metaphors (04:09) Emotionally turbulent and vividly atmospheric, Ko??ya is the debut album from Melbourne vocalist/producer Jordan White, aka Braille Face. Described as "exploratory ambient pop," Braille Face's music combines moody electronics with songwriting of rare depth and vulnerability. On Ko??ya, Braille Face is as confident as he is speculative across twelve diverse tracks, showcasing sonic experimentation alongside lyrics exploring personal guilt, loss, sadness and complicity. Breaking across it all is White's emotionally charged voice, which floats disarmingly from fragility to precision and back again. White is a relentlessly prolific creator, who embarked on an ambitious creative project in 2015: to record and release one album per month for 12 months. The albums were uploaded to SoundCloud without any attempt at fanfare, but curiosity led radio broadcaster and fellow producer Tim Shiel to discover the project half way through its run. Connecting as musicians and as friends, the two worked together to hone the project's most compelling cuts into a debut Braille Face album. Braille Face is the first Australian signing to Spirit Level, a music label founded by long-time friends and collaborators Tim Shiel (electronic musician and Double J / triple j radio host) and Wally de Backer, also known as Gotye. http://rapidgator.net/file/38a9b82cd4287be892ce191f7e1c7517/Braille_Face.zip.html http://ssh.tf/BxbQB9gD7/Braille_Face.zip http://uploaded.net/file/f92gv60a/Braille_Face.zip
  24. Artist: Johnny "Hammond" Smith Title: Opus De Funk (with Stimulation) Year Of Release: 2004 (1961) Label: Prestige / Fantasy [PRCD-24291-2] Genre: Jazz / Hard Bop / Soul Jazz Quality: FLAC (tracks+.cue, log) Mp3 Total Time: 01:10:45 Total Size: 472 MB 177 MB (Scans) While organist Johnny "Hammond" Smith never attained the status of Jimmy Smith, he nonetheless fronted first-rate bands and accumulated a fine discography. Recorded in 1961, Opus de Funk brings together two Smith albums in one package, Stimulation and Opus de Funk. Since the same band - vibraphonist Freddie McCoy, guitarist Eddie McFadden, bassist Wendell Marshall, and drummer Leo Stevens - played on both sets, and since both albums aren't very long by contemporary standards, the pair fit snuggly on the same CD. The really unusual element here is the presence of McCoy, because one doesn't usually associate vibes with jazz organ combos. The vibes work, however, and give the resonance of Smith's organ a lighter counterpoint that brightens up the overall sound. The band delivers fine versions of familiar pieces - "Cry Me a River," "Autumn Leaves," and "Gone With the Wind" - alongside newer pieces like "Ribs an' Chips" and "Que Pasa?" With a couple of exceptions, this snappy unit likes to keep things tight, and seldom extends a piece for over five minutes. The one big exception is Smith's "Ribs an' Chips," a breezy eight-minute bit of blues with fine solos by McFadden and McCoy. Opus de Funk is a welcome reissue and will be greeted warmly by jazz organ fans.
