Weckl was born in St. Louis and grew up listening to soul and jazz; he received his first drum set at age eight and developed his playing by listening to drummers like Buddy Rich, as well as R&B grooves. He majored in jazz at the University of Bridgeport, but left after two years to become involved in the New York jazz scene, also touring Europe with various bands. Weckl joined a fusion group called Nitesprite, where he attracted the attention of drummer Peter Erskine; Erskine helped him get a gig with French Toast, a band also featuring pianist Michel Camilo and bassist Anthony Jackson. From French Toast, Weckl branched out into session work, playing on numerous early-'80s sessions with the likes of Bill Connors (Return to Forever), the Brecker Brothers, T??nia Maria, Paquito D'Rivera, Eliane Elias, and George Benson, as well as pop and soul albums for Diana Ross, Madonna, and Robert Plant. In 1986, Chick Corea saw Weckl performing in New York with guitarist Connors and invited the drummer to join his new Elektric Band. Weckl spent a total of seven years with Corea, performing on numerous albums and also appearing with Corea's Akoustic Band; his skills received considerable esteem, and he augmented his work with Corea by continuing his session work and appearing often with the GRP All-Star Big Band. Weckl also released a series of instructional videos, and in 1990 he led his first solo date, with Master Plan for GRP. Heads Up followed in 1992, as well as Hard-Wired in 1994. Upon leaving Corea, Weckl's primary focus was recording and touring with guitarist Mike Stern; he also continued his work as a sideman. In 1998, Weckl led the R&B-oriented date Rhythm of the Soul, a return to his other boyhood musical love, and the like-minded Synergy followed in 1999. The Dave Weckl Band had really gelled by the time of Transition's 2000 release, but Weckl didn't leave teaching behind, either, and released another instructional recording, The Zone, in 2001. After working extensively with a quartet for the last few years, he debuted their efforts with 2002's improv-heavy Perpetual Motion. Multiplicity followed three years later. Wes Gow weathered the elements and unemployment with generous doses of Springsteen and Petty, and in the process discovered a love for telecasters and tweed-lacquered amps. After the spring thaw, Wes relocated his wife (and his songs) to Virginia Beach, where he made quick friends with bassist Rev Guill and drummer Heath Oderman. The three began rehearsing, writing, playing local shows, and collectively navigating the ever-changing tides of growing families and career moves in the suburban America, never losing sight of their musical identity. In 2013, the trio limped into the studio, tired from a fews years of the local scene and not altogether certain what the future held. For the next year the band focused all their available energy on the album. Under the friendship and guidance of Jon Anderson at Whale Head Records, Two Bars From The Gun is proud to emerge with "Thief & Love," their first full length album! "Thief & Love" is a compilation of a cast of characters: pirates, boat captains, pioneers, priests, and cowboys (among others); each of them looking at the world from their own unique perspective. Songwriter Wes Gow joins this lineup with glimpses into his own personal musings, but much of the stories are told through the lens of fictional characters. I'll Sing the Blues for You is Trudy Lynn's 12th solo album and the third release on the Connor Ray Music label following up on 2014's Royal Oaks Blues Caf??, which hit #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart and 2015's Everything Comes with A Price which spent 4 months on the Living Blues Radio Chart. Trudy is also a five-time Blues Music Award nominee and was inducted into the Houston Music Hall of Fame in 2015. Trudy Lynn was born Lee Audrey Nelms in Houston's Fifth Ward, where she began singing as a teenager. After high school, Lynn went to visit her aunt in Lufkin, where a club called the Cinderella needed a singer. She decided Lee Audrey Nelms wasn't going to cut it as a stage name. The club had a bunch of cartoon character names painted on the wall and she noticed "Trudy," which she quickly paired with Lynn. "Lynn was something in those days," she says. "Gloria Lynne, Barbara Lynn. I thought, 'I'm going to be one of those Lynns, too, baby.' " Prior to striking out on her own, Trudy was the vocalist for such Texas greats as I.J. Gosey and Clarence Green, where Trudy spent five years as the vocalist for his band. Green was a stern mentor, but Lynn credits him with helping her become a professional. "He molded me well," she says. "He's still in me because of what he taught me. It takes that." After leaving Green's band, Lynn began performing on her own. For years she struggled to get recorded in a manner deserving of her talent, until 1989 when Trudy signed with John Abbey's famed Ichiban label and provided the opportunity for Trudy to tour the world and perform at the most prestigious festivals including Lucerne and the Chicago Blues Festival. While at Ichiban, producers had a strong hand in directing her recordings. Since joining forces with harmonica wizard Steve Krase and the Connor Ray Music label in 2014, Lynn has played curator for herself. She has been writing original songs that blend nicely with the vintage material. The songs are mostly about good times and bad men. "Each one of these songs means something to me," she states.
