The original sound of the group was a something never Heard of when its self- titled debut album came out in 1969. In The Many Faces of Yes we present an unknown side of the band, with recordings by the group as a whole and also by solo members, including rarities and other gems. On CD1, "The BBC Sessions", we present the group with their original line up (Jon Anderson on vocals, Peter Banks on guitar, Bill Bruford on drums, Chris Squire on bass and Tony Kaye on keyboards) with their performances in London's BBC Radio. They play songs from their first album "Sweetness, Looking Around" plus a fantastic version of The Beatles' "Every Little Thing". It also contains material from their second album "Time And A Word" (1970): "Then", "Everydays", "Sweet Dreams", "Astral Traveller" and the audacious version of "No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed" by Richie Havens. In these incredible BBC Sessions we can also find "Dear Father", a song that appeared (in a studio version) many years later in the "Yesterdays" compilation. It also contains a couple of unreleased tracks: "Somethin's Coming" and "For Everyone". CD2 is titled "Before And After Yes Projects" and contains songs by several members of the group recorded before and after they were part of the band. We start with the monumental "Catherine Howard", from the unforgettable album "The Six Wives Of Henry VIII" by keyboard player Rick Wakeman. Then we follow up with songs by "Flash" (the project that guitarist Peter Banks put together after he left the group in 1970). We also present two songs "Lifetime" and "Monday Morning Eyes," from "In The Can" the band's second album, released in 1972. This amazing selection is completed with "The Last Eclipse" from "Two Sides Of Peter Banks", Banks' solo debut. It's worth no note that he wrote the ??lbum along some of the best progressive rock's musicians from that era: (Phil Collins, guitarist Jan Akkerman from Focus and Steve Hackett from Genesis). CD3, is titled "Playin' Their Favourite Songs" and its name says it all. Members and former members of Yes playing songs from Pink Floyd, Genesis and even the AOR classic "More Than A Feeling" by Boston. Vaughan, who was confirmed to play the 2013 edition, dropped out in January after suffering a heart attack. Vaughan is now confirmed to play at at Mahindra Blues Festival, which takes place on February 15th and 16th, 2014 in Mumbai. The lineup also includes blues guitarist Zac Harmon and Chicago blues band Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials, who will make their India debut at the festival. Indian bands on the lineup include Shillong blues rock act Soulmate and Mumbai instrumental rock band Blackstratblues. Says Owen Roncon, of festival organizers Oranjuice Entertainment, "Jimmie Vaughan was keen on doing this show since he couldn't make it last year. Apart from that, our focus is on getting young blues acts and exposing a younger side of the genre." Roncon adds that Soulmate will be an act to watch out for at the festival, where they launch their third full-length album and play a special set. Says Roncon, "Soulmate are doing a brand new set. I met Michael several years ago when he was playing in a band with his life long friend Billy Bob Thornton, and I have waited a long time for this record. Shipp, the band, consists of Mike on guitar and vocals, Jai Lambert on bass and special guests are peppered throughout the alum, including Billy Bob on drums and vocals, Dusty Hill (ZZ Top) on bass, Pat Travers on guitar, the late Stephen Bruton on guitar, Les Dudek on guitar, Rickey Medlocke (Lynyrd Skynyrd) on guitar, Teddy "Zig Zag" Andreadis (Guns n' Roses) on keys, Brad Davis on acoustic and more. Lots of great songs, many written by Shipp, and including adapted covers like ZZ Top's "Sure Got Cold After the Rain Fell," The Allman Brothers' "Its Not My Cross to Bear," and Bob Dylan's "Positively 4th Street." This is a great CD. Outstanding playing and great to crank up in the car when you hit the open road. This Shipp boldly goes where no band has gone before.
